Lots Of Activity In The Yorkshire New Homes Market

Posted 8 October 2020 by Keith Osborne

House-hunters in Yorkshire will find a whole range of new homes to explore at developments across the region...

The revision of the government’s Help to Buy scheme and the Stamp Duty holiday that came into effect this summer has seen a surge in interest and sales in the new build property market across the country, with the Yorkshire region no exception.

Housebuilder Kebbell has reported booming sales following the launch of the fourth phase of its Cornelian Fields development in Scarborough, with eight homes already snapped up before the show home has even opened its doors.

It is nearing completion of its third phase with just a handful of four-bedroom homes remaining available at the coastal development. Cornelian Fields has so far comprised 132 homes in the first three phases. The fourth phase adds 106 more with all two-bedroom homes already being reserved and a number of three- and four-bedroom homes receiving offers. The new fourth phase show home is due to open to potential buyers in November. Plans for phase five at Scarborough are already fully underway with build expected to start in 2022.

Andrea Fawell, sales and marketing director at Kebbell says: “We are delighted that Cornelian Fields has been such a runaway success. Demand continually outstrips supply, so we are delighted to now be launching the fourth phase to meet that demand. Before the fourth phase show home even opens, we have already taken eight reservations as part of this phase. The first five homes will be built by December so five happy families will be eating their Christmas lunch in their new homes!”

“Yorkshire has a special place in our hearts as a business as we have been building homes and communities in the area for many years now. We have also enjoyed being part of the Skills Village that exists in Scarborough and many of our sub-contractors have successfully trained and recruited young tradespeople who now work on our homes. We take pride in building new local communities in the North with many of our original buyers recommending the growing development to their friends and families.”

In West Yorkshire, Miller Homes sold out all the homes at its Kings Mews development in Drighlington a little under a year and has recently launched a new 200-home development in the village, located around six miles from Leeds and Bradford. The first 24 plots of three- and four-bedroom homes at Kings Park are now available. Prices start at £204,995.

“Our homes have always been incredibly popular in this area and we are delighted to be able to launch another selection of properties to help the community find a brand new home to suit their individual requirements,” said Natalie Moore, sales manager, Miller Homes Yorkshire. “We look forward to creating a new show home for Kings Park early in 2021.”

The MitfordThe 'Mitford' house type

The housebuilder has also launched a new show home for the second phase of its popular City Fields development in Wakefield. The Lodge at City Fields, with prices starting at £214,995 for a three-bedroom semi-detached home now has the four-bedroom ‘Mitford’ style of home decorated and furnished with inspiration from the Pantone Colour of the Year 2020, ‘Classic Blue’.

“We’ve worked with a new design team on this particular home to give prospective buyers a new slant on interior styling, and we’re delighted with the way they interpreted our brief to design something that encapsulates modern family life,” said Moore. ‘“The Mitford’ has a great layout with a great kitchen/family area which is ideal for entertaining and everyday family life. It also boasts a study which provides a space to work from home, and for children to do their homework. The finished scheme will give prospective buyers and those interested in interior design much inspiration as to how the latest trends can be incorporated into our homes.”

Vistry Group, which builds homes under the Linden Homes and Bovis Homes brands, has just launched a series of show homes openings digitally, giving potential purchasers the chance to view a dream home from the comfort of their own.

CastlegateCastlegate development

These include two new show homes at the Castlegate development in Knaresborough – the four-bedroom detached ‘Pembroke’ and three-bedroom semi-detached ‘Eveleigh’ designs – both of which have been launched virtually in a 360° tour.

Vistry Yorkshire marketing manager Megan Marshall said: “Since the housing market reopened in May, we have been looking at ways to make the homebuying process as efficient, easy and of course as safe as possible for our customers.

“To ensure that everyone has the chance to see what our fabulous Castlegate development has to offer, we have worked very hard to launch these virtually. This means that people can view them safely and in the comfort of their own home and follow up with a social-distanced, Covid-safe appointment in person if they wish.”

Located on the outskirts of the historic market town of Knaresborough, Castlegate comprises a selection of two-, three-, four- and five-bedroom properties set in extensive areas of open space and landscaping.

In the East Riding, Linden Homes is now offering a virtual of another ‘Pembroke’ show home at the South Minster Pastures development in Beverley, part of a 900-home scheme offering two-, three- and four-bedroom properties. Current prices there start from £159,950.
