A Very Active New Homes Market In Sought-After Surrey

Posted 5 February 2021 by Keith Osborne

We round up some of the latest news and information from the new homes market for house-hunters across Surrey...

Surrey has great renown as a place to live, with some of the Homes Counties’ most prestigious private estates in addition to successful towns, beautiful villages and some exceptional countryside. All this combined with excellent transport connections, even from some of its more remote locations.

The WhatHouse? Team has gathered some information and the latest news on current and upcoming new homes across Surrey.

A survey by Compare My Move revealed Guildford, located only a 35-minute train ride from London, has been named the best place in the country for city dwellers to relocate to, taking into account the average house price, median salary, download speed and the annual average hours of sunlight. The findings have been welcomed by Clearview Developments, where 50% of its Bargate House scheme has been sold within a time frame of only two weeks, whilst offers on others leaving only one unit left for sale.

Jason Tema, director at Clearview Developments commented: “The demand for our Guildford project has been overwhelming. Although we have always witnessed a high demand from house hunters, we can see that the market has become extremely competitive due to an increasing number of city dwellers looking to relocate. In addition, we have noted a stark increase in savvy investors who are shifting their focus from investment properties in London to the regional housing markets such as Surrey.”

The final unit available here is Plot 1, a three-bedroom apartment with office space. It has three en suites, two of the bedrooms have walk-in wardrobes and one comes with a fitted wardrobe. There’s also a cloakroom, open-plan living area, allocated parking and access to a communal garden.

London Square has announced a special offer worth thousands of pounds at its apartment development in Staines-upon-Thames. The multi-award-winning developer will pay the mortgage for a year for buyers of the final one- and two-bedroom apartments, all ready to move into. These feature an excellent specification, with generous open-plan living areas opening onto a private balcony. Prices start from £325,000. Purchasers who complete by 26 March will have their mortgage paid for the next 12 months.

Crest Nicholson is preparing a brand new development for launch in Godalming in April 2021. Situated on the banks of the River Wey, Catteshall Court will comprise one- and two-bedroom apartments (all with their own balcony), and two-, three- and four-bedroom houses. The first phase of this project will consist of 80 properties, with works underway and the first completions expected in July 2021. The whole development is scheduled to complete by July 2023.

These homes are a 15-minute walk from Godalming town centre and high street. For families with children, there is also a variety of schools and nurseries nearby including Godalming College and Busbridge Infant School, both rated ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted.

Thanks to the period drama Bridgerton on Netflix, there’s been a surge of interest in the grand Regency architecture of the buildings featured in it.

Magna Carta Park, from residential developer Royalton Residences, is 57 homes set on an exclusive, 57-acre private estate of woodland and landscaped gardens in the heart of Surrey, close to the site of the eponymous King John treaty. Comprising 23 houses, 10 townhouses and 24 apartments across three mansion blocks, the properties range from one-bedroom apartments of 1,141 sq ft to five-bedroom houses with over 4,495 sq ft of living space. The luxurious development has been achieved via the partnership of celebrated architect Julian Bicknell and Associates and prestigious interior designer, Louise Bradley.

A significant amount of the architectural design embraces the Regency period and would be an ideal abode for a Bridgerton or Featherington. The clean, stuccoed fashion of this era is seen across the development and adds a sense of luxury to the homes. Furthermore, the layouts have been arranged to provide each household with beautiful views over the estate, as well as access to large areas of garden or private terraces that lead onto the expansive English countryside. The Magna Carta Park estate enjoys sweeping views over Windsor, with a picture-frame view of Windsor Castle and the Long Walk from the Great Lawn at the centre of the development. Prices range from £1million to £4.5million. Find out more at magnacartapark.com.

A Guide To Part Buy Part Rent
With Home Reach you buy a share of your chosen newly built home and pay a monthly rent on the part you don’t buy. Your budget will decide the size of the share you buy, rather than the size of your home. So, you might decide to buy a bigger share of a lower priced home or a smaller share of a more expensive home.
