Busy Times Across Developments in The North West

Posted 4 November 2020 by Keith Osborne

House-hunters in the North West of England will currently find new releases and special offers across many developments...

As Christmas approaches, there’s still a chance to purchase and move into a new home at numerous developments across the country, not least in the North West of England.

In addition to selling homes which are ready to move into now or in time for the festive seasons, there are also launches of new phases of homes which will be ideal for those planning to move next year, and new show homes that provide house-hunters with a chance to visit a site and see the build quality and some current interiors trends to consider when they move home.

Barratt Homes has now made life easier for prospective buyers in Lancashire. Alongside existing initiatives and offers such as Help to Buy, Part Exchange, Movemaker and the NHS discount scheme, the developer has added the Luxury Homes for Local People scheme (in association with the national Low Cost Home Ownership scheme) to the list. This scheme will allow for people with a connection to Ribble Valley to exclusively secure a luxury Barratt property at a reduced cost.

It is available on the three-bedroom ‘Barton’ style home at Bowland Meadow, which has a spacious lounge and dining area with French doors that open out to the rear garden, while upstairs there is a double master bedroom, two further bedrooms and a bathroom. The property also has parking for two cars and a good-sized rear garden, ideal for evenings in the sunshine.

Michaela Lancaster, sales director at Barratt Homes Manchester, said: “By offering our ‘Barton’ style homes alongside the new scheme, our houses are available for those who have lived in the area for a certain period of time, making these beautiful homes built by local people, for local people. Applications will be sent to Ribble Valley Council for approval making sure that the buyer meets the certain criteria to be able to purchase the home at the discounted rate. Full market prices at Bowland Meadow currently start at £125,995.

Hawthorn CourtHawthorn Court

Redrow has just unveiled a new show home at Hawthorn Court, one of three outlets within the popular Ledsham Garden Village in west Cheshire. The ‘Kensington’ joins seven other fully dressed show houses by Redrow at the village.

Amanda Hollins, area sales manager for Redrow NW said: “Hawthorn Court includes a range of our townhouse-style properties and until now, there hasn’t been one that visitors could explore. The ‘Kensington’ is a really dynamic home that comes with lots of living space and proves that going up instead of out can provide ample space for family life.

“Styled by our in-house interior design team, the show home depicts current interior trends for sustainable, eco-conscious living through the use of natural materials and textures, by celebrating ‘imperfections’ in its shapes and finishes and displaying handcrafted accessories. At the same time it oozes style as we want to inspire visitors and show them what their life could look like in a house like this.

The three and four-bedroom homes at Hawthorn Court are currently priced from £259,995 to £312,995. Customers have lots of options to personalise their new home via specification choices and optional extras available through the MyRedrow app. The new show home will be open daily, usually from 10.00am to 5.30pm.

The SpinningsThe Spinnings

Barratt Homes Manchester is celebrating sales success after 90% of homes at The Spinnings have now sold. The Blackpool Road development has just seven homes remaining and is just a short drive away from the M6 and M55, and it’s a short trip to Lytham St Annes.

First-time buyers Wayne Lamb and Kelly McNab said: “We decided we wanted to move to the Preston area because the quick access to the M6 makes it makes it easier to travel. We had a look around a couple of new developments and we loved the layout of The Spinnings. We had also seen that Barratt Manchester was a five-star house builder so we knew we would be in good hands.”

As a thank you to the NHS and the Armed Forces, Barratt Homes has also introduced a new 5% Deposit Scheme. To assist military personnel and NHS workers with the purchase of their home, they will be offered a 5% deposit contribution, up to £15,000. Prices at The Spinnings start at £203,995.

Carr's RiseCarr's Rise

Anwyl Homes Lancashire was a company division formed in 2017 but it has doubled its workforce in the last 12 months as its number of developments and homes for sale has increased. Its first show homes in the Preston area opened recently at Bluebell Meadows, Fulwood, and its other current sites in the region include Carr’s Rise in Prescot, and others in Newton-le-Willows, Fulwood and Sandbach.

“Our Lancashire business completed circa 90 homes in the financial year to the end of September. That’s slightly fewer than we had originally planned, due to Covid, but our target for this year is more than double and by 2023 we expect to be delivering more than 400 homes per annum in this region. Our thoughtful designs and high level of craftsmanship have been well received locally,” said managing director John Grime.

Just outside the well-served market town of Cockermouth in Cumbria, on the edge of the Lake District, is Roman Heights, a Lovell Homes development where there is currently a choice of three- and four-bedroom homes to consider. One example is the ‘Hartley’, a semi-detached house which has a living room at the front, a kitchen/dining/family room at the rear, downstairs WC, family bathroom, a single bedroom which could equally function as home office, and two double bedrooms, with bedroom one having en suite and dressing room.

The sales office is open by appointment only from Thursday to Monday between 10.00am and 5.00pm. Buyers can ask about initiatives such as Help to Buy, Assisted Move and Part Exchange. Prices here start at £260,000.

Case study: Kym and Chris

Buying a house is an exciting time for anyone but for Preston mum-of-two Kym, the anticipation of seeing her brand new home resulted in her going into labour.

Kym Jones and her husband Chris saved for two years to move into their first home as a married couple and, when Kym found out she was expecting their second child, the need for a larger home was even greater.

Kym, Chris, Emmy and Harry“We found our dream home at Tabley Green in Fulwood back in February, when I was in the early stages of my pregnancy, so it felt like perfect timing,” said Kym. “We went to visit the house in July, a few weeks before we were due to move in and seeing it ready and waiting for us filled me with so much excitement that 30 minutes after we left our appointment I went into labour!”

Baby Emmy, big brother Harry, Kym and Chris are now settled in and enjoying the space their new home gives them. They are now within walking distance of Kym’s parents meaning they have been able to spend more time together as a family.

“Moving to a new house in the middle of a pandemic, with a two-week-old baby and a toddler was manic. We had to take each day as it came but we are both very grateful that it all worked out so well. Redrow’s sales team at Tabley Green, Louise and Richard, were fantastic during the whole process, and James, Lee and all the site team have been great with the aftercare.”
