News Round-Up From Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire

Posted 2 February 2021 by Keith Osborne

WhatHouse? brings together the latest news and information on new homes developments for buyers in the East of England...

For a combination of well-served towns, transport links, villages and countryside, Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire both have a lot to offer and housebuilders are finding a high level of interest in their developments there, including local buyers and people wanting to move out from London for homes with more space inside and outside.

We round-up some of the latest news and information on the counties.

There’s just one home left for sale at Huntsmere Mews, a Bellway development which has brought 306 new properties to Borehamwood and is scheduled to complete this spring. It provides a range of one- and two-bedroom apartments and three- and four-bedroom houses alongside a green open space for all residents to use. The final home is a four-bedroom ‘Hamill’ house type, priced from £625,000.

Greg Allsop, sales and marketing director for Bellway North London, said: “From start to finish, our team have done a fantastic job at Hertsmere Mews throughout the duration of this project. As a result, Hertsmere Mews is an award-winning Bellway development, with project manager Steve Cutting and his team having gained multiple awards from the National House Building Council (NHBC) and two Considerate Constructors Awards in recognition of the entire site team and their efforts in Borehamwood.”

The housebuilder has also recently opened a show home at Lestone Mews in Leighton Buzzard. It’s a spacious three-bedroom semi-detached family house type called ‘The Tweed’ which has a front-facing living room and a spacious kitchen/dining room with French doors to the garden, while upstairs there’s a good-sized master bedroom with en suite shower room, as well as two further bedrooms and a family bathroom. The house type is available from £337,500.

Case study: Sorel, Sam and family

Sorel Wilson, 34, and her partner Sam Dempster, 31, took an exceptional step as first-time buyers, selecting a four-bedroom detached family home as a first step on the property ladder.

They made one of the early reservations at Hayfield Gate in the sought-after Bedfordshire village of Clifton, plumping for an ‘Astwick’ home type when it was launched to the market for off-plan sales last summer. They were also the first to move into the luxury development with their two children.

Sorel said: “We were really keen to finally get on the property ladder, having always rented. We had saved up for a deposit and just kept our eyes peeled for a home that was spacious enough for the four of us and within the village we grew up in. Clifton is such a lovely place to live; everyone knows and looks out for each other, and the schools are really good too.

Sorel, Sam and family“When we were house-hunting, we looked at all the options in our price bracket and were amazed at Hayfield’s quality and the standard of build. Sam is a construction site manager, so he can be difficult to impress! He commutes to London daily on the train from nearby Arlesey station and wanted us to have a home that was perfectly finished, so we could all relax as a family. Now that we have moved in, we are so delighted with the practical layout of our home and how natural light floods into the living space. Every bit of space has really been maximised, and the house is so warm and well insulated.”

WhatHouse? Award-winning housebuilder Hayfield has seen over 40% of the 62 family homes matched with buyers within six months of the launch. Prices for the current release of three and four-bedroom homes range from £460,000 to £675,000. Part Exchange is available. Two and five-bedroom homes will be included in future releases.

The specification of homes here features sound-proofed studies, bespoke kitchens, efficient underfloor heating, ROCA/Laufen bathrooms, heritage bronze ironmongery, Farrow & Ball paint, Hammonds wardrobes, feature lighting in key rooms and ultra-fast broadband.

A viewing can be book by appointment between 10.00am and 5.00pm, seven days a week. Find out more at [email protected].
