Family Company EAB Homes Creates the Wow Factor Every Time

Posted 4 April 2019 by Lizzie Leigh

WhatHouse? speaks exclusively to Tonia Warren, Director of EAB Homes, about the Beaconsfield-based housebuilder and the importance of heritage...

Beautiful, bespoke and Beaconsfield-based, EAB Homes creates the wow factor every time.

Tonia Warren, Director of EAB Homes, discusses the importance of heritage and how this family-run business has forged long-term links within the Beaconsfield community.

What does your role as a director of EAB Homes tend to involve on a day to day basis?

Each day of the week is different for me, and is one of the reasons I love my role! From being on site resolving technical challenges to producing full cost breakdowns for each project, I'm involved in every aspect of each property from purchase of the land through to welcoming the end user into their dream home. Mostly I focus on making sure our designs are innovative and on trend at the time of completion, which means I spend a lot of time researching products, creating contacts and placing orders for the multitude of items that make up one of our finished homes.

EAB Homes is very much a family affair; how does this strengthen the ethos of the company?

We pride ourselves on being a family run business, with five family members across two generations. We use our individual personalities, opinions and strengths to create family homes that we ourselves would want to live in, including combining our long-term technical knowledge with our up to date understanding of design trends and innovative technologies. We are a formidable team, making decisions as group, which allows us to see from all angles and therefore produce a far superior product for our end users.

You are based in the affluent commuter town of Beaconsfield, what changes have you seen in the area in the past few years?

Many, and none! Both the New and Old Towns of Beaconsfield have seen vast improvements in terms of what they offer anybody looking to make the move here. The High Streets are now lined with independent boutique shops, fashionable eateries to suit any foodie palette, and a host of welcoming, family owned businesses offering anything from artisan coffee to warm winter coats. What hasn’t changed though, is its unrivalled appeal to Central London commuters, looking for that property that’s only 20-minutes from their desk, but also 20-minutes from the Chiltern Hills, and how discerning they are when it comes to choosing the right home for them, and that’s what we pride ourselves on.

How is your family tied to the local community?

One of the core values of EAB is heritage; we’ve got family roots in Beaconsfield that are centuries old and the crown from our logo was designed based on the sparks from an Anvil and the forge our family owned within the town. We also have strong community ties, not just from the 80 homes we’ve built locally and their families who now enjoy them, but from the local suppliers and sub-contractors we use through to our company’s input into local events such as the Beaconsfield Festival of Lights and the Chamber of Commerce.

Is there a typical ‘EAB Home’ buyer?

We have sold properties to couples, families and individuals from different cultures, careers and areas of the world. However, all our purchasers seek a sympathetic aesthetic that suits its surroundings, built to exacting standards and future-proofed to cover all their needs.

How much involvement do your clients have in helping to create their new home?

Generally none. At EAB Homes we prefer to complete a project, including the interior design, prior to marketing the property as complete and ready to move into. Our properties are generally designed and styled up to 18 months prior to completion, with the latest products purchased well in advance of fitting on site. In our contracting days (we took the leap to developments only in 2017) we would provide a ‘hand holding’ service throughout the project, assisting our clients to achieve their dream home based on their individual design tastes. We learnt great lessons through their successes - and also some not so great ones!

What interior and/or technological trends in high-end house building are you seeing at the moment?

Home Automation is an absolute necessity for the luxury market. There are so many options available, with the ability to integrate many aspects of the home, from heating and cooling through to powered blinds and curtains. Our system of choice is Savant, running seamlessly with your Apple products and providing the utmost synchronicity throughout the home. From an interior design perspective both pastels and industrials are strong this year  - take your pick! Variety in ceramic tiling is an interesting and effective way of styling a property that can be easily altered should an end user wish to do so.

What tend to be the priorities for homebuyers looking to purchase a home through you?

Location is almost always top of the list. In what is a bustling commuter town it is rare to have a property which is newly built, at the forefront of innovation and design, and within walking distance of both the town and train station. Technology, integration between work and home, a hearty hub of the house incorporating the kitchen and quality craftsmanship are also important to our end users.

Can you tell us a bit about your latest project?

Our latest project, ‘Beechmont’, is due to launch in April and we are so excited for the big reveal! A south facing half-an-acre plot, within walking distance of the town, boasting 10,000sqft of luxury family accommodation designed from a triple brick archway, which then defines the entire front elevation of the property. Using pretty 1920’s styling, brickwork details, tile creasing details and inverted cant brick window reveals, we have created a house of two halves by then opening up through to a rear elevation inspired by black Crittal glazing with a cantilevered garden room leading into the perfect outside seating area. With an industrial interior feel, warmed using texture and colour through the interior design, we are sure this property is going to WOW.

Why EAB Homes?

We care. About every little detail: from the foundations to the diffusers, every detail is considered and chosen carefully for each of our developments. An extensive technical knowledge combined with a modern approach to design and product selection ensures our homes are always built and finished to the highest quality. We want to feel proud of our developments every time we pass them and this ensures we always strive to be the absolute best we can be.
