Show Home Room By Room: The Chain, Walthamstow

Posted 28 May 2021 by Keith Osborne

Suna Interior Design has brought a bold approach to the show apartment at L&Q’s The Chain in north-east London…

Offering a step onto the property ladder for first-time buyers in north-east London, The Chain is a new L&Q development, with studios, one- and two-bedroom apartments available to buy through both Shared Ownership and London Help to Buy.

Recently dubbed one of London’s ‘best places to live’ by The Sunday Times, Walthamstow is growing in popularity amongst young buyers due to its creative local culture, multicultural food scene, and excellent transport connections. Taking inspiration from the vibrant local area through the use of bold colour and texture throughout, the two-bedroom show home at The Chain was designed and decorated by experts Suna Interior Design.

Hallway

The ChainThe light-filled apartment features a consistent, warm colour scheme accented by hand-picked furnishings, fittings, custom artwork and the all-important luscious green houseplants. Upon entering, a spacious hallway sets the tone for the home, with rich teals walls creating an inviting atmosphere. The bold tone is complemented perfectly by wood-effect Amtico flooring – which comes as standard throughout all homes – and a walnut side table, with the contrasting textures adding depth and dimension to the home’s entrance.

Open-plan kitchen/living space

The ChainThe living space itself is bright and open plan, creating a social hub within the apartment – perfect for buyers to show off their new home when indoor entertaining is once again on the cards.

The kitchen features contemporary handle-less soft close cabinets in a matte blue/grey shade, with Silestone work surfaces and splashbacks. Saving first-time buyers money – and the hassle – of purchasing new appliances as soon as they move in, white goods are included in homes across all L&Q developments – from the integrated oven, fridge/freezer and dishwasher through to the washer/dryer.

The ChainDesigned to be a memorable but not overstated room, the eye is immediately drawn to the beautifully picked unique furniture pieces in the living space; a zesty tangerine velvet sofa and textured teal stools create a relaxed dining space. The round marble-effect table along with the art deco style mirrors, cabinetry and side tables in brushed bronze add a touch of luxury. The space is expertly zoned with the use of an oversized monochrome rug, subtly dividing the room into dedicated living and dining areas.

An abstract painting adorns the far wall, which was specially commissioned by Suna Interior Design for The Chain show home. The artwork instantly adds impact to the space and complements the furnishings without being visually overwhelming. Decorative touches such as candles and unique trinkets create a lived-in feel – helping buyers to instantly feel at home at this new development.

Bedroom one

The ChainComplementary tones continue into the principal bedroom; textured wallpaper adds personality to the new build home, accentuating the high-quality wool carpets which run through all bedrooms at The Chain. Mirrored wardrobes also come as standard in principal bedrooms, ensuring maximum storage is utilised throughout the apartments. Long cream curtains and a patterned rug soften the bold shades, complementing the earth tones found in the rest of the show home.

Bathroom

The ChainA contemporary bathroom is located just off the entryway in the apartment, with grey tiling and modern white sanitaryware creating a clean, fresh feel. Plenty of shelved storage – a ‘must-have’ for many first-time buyers – is housed behind three large mirrors, while a rainfall shower and a selection of houseplants creates a spa-like atmosphere.

Second bedroom

The ChainShowing the versatility of the apartment and as a nod to the many buyers who will be working from home, the second bedroom has been transformed into a home office-cum-spare room, with a large day bed that can easily be pulled out for guests staying overnight. There is ample room for a workspace, with the bright colours and full-height window positioning the space as a desirable place to work.

Shared Ownership prices start from £91,250 for a 25% share of a one-bedroom apartment (full market value £365,000) and £122,500 for a 25% share of a two-bedroom apartment (full market value £490,000). Private sale prices start from £317,500 for a studio, £365,000 for a one-bedroom apartment, and £487,500 for a two-bedroom apartment, with Help to Buy available.
