Posted 13 February 2023 by Helen Christie

WhatHouse? takes a tour of the first show home at Sunninghill Square from WhatHouse? Award-winning developer, Berkeley…

Berkeley has recently opened its first show home at Sunninghill Square, a boutique collection of Victorian-inspired new homes located in the delightful Berkshire village of Sunninghill.

Renowned for its charming and characterful high street, Sunninghill is often referred to as Berkshire’s hidden gem. The homes boast a prime location, just a two-minute walk from the village centre - bursting with boutiques, independent coffee houses and eateries. The substantial five-bedroom house at Sunninghill Square showcases the flexible living accommodation available, and was styled by Phoenix Interior Design.

Susan White, managing director of Phoenix Interior Design, comments: “Elements and snippets of the local country lifestyle can be found throughout the home. Inspiration from the rural countryside, a renowned local golf course, and amazing nearby schools have all been incorporated into the design. This relaxed and welcoming family home was designed with cleverly considered spaces and a classic colour palette.

Playing with light and shade created varying tones and moods, for example using charcoal Mulberry wallpaper fitted to the spine of the staircase.

The open-plan kitchen and al fresco dining area are perfect for family entertaining and relaxed meals at home.

Lounge

A large lounge with layered textures and warm neutral tones creates a welcoming space to socialise and gather as a family. The patterned wallpaper and elegant gold accents elevate the space so that it is also suitable for entertaining.

A dedicated workspace with bespoke joinery creates an elegant place to work from home, complete with shelves and space for a coffee nook for those moments of respite.

The second-floor hangout area at the top of the stairs gives teenagers a place to hang out and chill, while the bedrooms have been designed to reflect both cool vibes for the kids and timeless chic for the adults, with a touch of individualism in each.

The master bedroom is elegantly designed using neutral tones. As bedrooms are intended for relaxing, combining shades of white, cream and brown provides a calm and cosy foundation, giving the space a restful atmosphere.
