Show Home Room By Room: Equinox I, Exeter

Posted 8 February 2021 by Keith Osborne

WhatHouse? takes a detailed look at the four-bedroom show house at Cavanna Homes' Equinox I in Devon…

In January, housebuilder Cavanna Homes opened the doors to its show home at Equinox I, a development of 79 new two- to four-bedroom homes within easy reach of the cathedral city of Exeter by bike or bus.

Paul Furner, head of sales and marketing at Cavanna Homes said: “Since our Equinox I marketing suite opened, we’ve already helped the first families move into our modern new homes and the majority of our two-bedroom homes have been reserved by people keen to move to this fantastic location with a 15-acre country park close by.

“We’re really pleased with our beautifully designed show home, which has received lots of positive comments from viewers and our current homeowners looking for interior inspiration. We’d like to invite anyone looking to move to the area to book their appointment to visit us today by contacting [email protected].”

The show home is a four-bedroom ‘Plym’ townhouse with a modern, open-plan kitchen/dining room with integrated appliances and double doors leading into the garden, plus a master bedroom with an en suite and dressing area, a home office and parking.

Richard Ornelas, director of sales at Abode, led the team in creating a contemporary and neutral interior finish for the show home.

He added: “The ‘Plym’ show home extends over three levels, so we aimed to show how versatile this townhouse is for all the family. Following a rise in homeworking, one area we were keen to highlight is how people can easily transform one of the rooms into a home office, so we did just that.”

Study

Equinox I“The study is an excellent room for homeworking, or home schooling as it offers a generous space. We wanted to maximise the workspace by using a bespoke cut desktop which works with the angle of the room, that said the room would easily accommodate two desks.

“We wanted to create a contemporary space that would feel comfortable for long periods of study or work, which is reflected in our neutral and calming colour tones.”

Kitchen/dining room

Equinox IThe spacious, open-plan kitchen/dining room features integrated appliances, spotlights, and double doors leading into the garden, ideal for summer BBQs with friends and family.

“With the modern clean lines of the kitchen we wanted to add contrast and warmth by using deep padded upholstered dining chairs and a rustic finish to the dining table.”

Living room

Equinox I“The family living room features two sofas and a coffee table, creating a welcoming environment for all to enjoy.

“We wanted the room to feel cosy and place a family would gather together. Wall-to-wall curtains with a deep pile rug and textured scatter cushions really envelop you into a warm sanctuary for those winter evenings!”

Master bedroom

Equinox IThis stunning spacious master bedroom has a luxury feel with a large built-in wardrobe with full-length glass mirrors, an en suite bathroom, and its own dressing area with storage.

“This room is really worth the journey to the top of the house! A generous space we have dressed with a super king bed and drawer units for bedsides and it still feels vast. With the light streaming through the bay window, we wanted to add drama to the room so using a deeper green to all the walls really makes this room very memorable. A relaxed atmosphere which the colour green always projects.”

Child’s bedroom

Equinox IThe ‘Plym’ home has four bedrooms; the master bedroom, one double room and two children’s bedrooms.

The children’s rooms have space for a single or double bed, a chest of drawers, a bedside table, plus room to play, draw and do homework.

“We dressed the room with a young space explorer in mind! We chose a single bed for the room just to demonstrate the space for your little one to play in, especially as we’re spending much more time at home at the moment. The space theme is pulled together with the Universe Caselio wallpaper which is not only playful but educational with the different planets described.”
