Show Home Room By Room: Apartment, Riverstone Kensington, London

Posted 12 July 2021 by Keith Osborne

Later living specialist Riverstone takes us on a tour of one of its luxurious apartments in a prime location in the capital…

Redefining later living, Riverstone has curated a collection of beautiful lateral apartments in the prestigious and vibrant neighbourhood of Kensington, to ensure residents live a social, active and independent life.

Riverstone Kensington comprises 190 one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments, boasting classical and elegant furnishings and five-star residential amenities. The development sits at the centre of one of London’s most sought-after neighbourhoods and evokes the characterful townhouses and gardens which make Kensington so distinctive.

We take a look around the newly unveiled show home at Riverstone Kensington.

Dining room/kitchen

Riverstone KensingtonAt the heart of the home, the flexible and open-plan living and dining spaces are central to creating a social and comfortable space for residents to live, entertain and relax. In the curation of this show apartment, a six-seat dining table is the centrepiece of the room, showcasing the apartment’s contemporary and spacious living that is perfect for hosting friends, family and neighbours for coffee and dinner parties.

Elegant countertops and cupboards frame the exposed stone of the kitchen wall, creating a timeless and organic backdrop to the room. Floor-to-ceiling sliding doors invite fresh air and natural light into the space, supplemented by the light yet classic colour of the walls. Pops of vibrance are introduced through indoor plants, soft furnishings and carefully chosen décor.

Living room

Riverstone KensingtonAdjacent to the dining area sits the demure, elegant living space. Though open plan, the living area is distinct from the dining area through the thoughtful location of art deco accent tables and the cream sofa. Floor-to-ceiling windows flood each apartment with natural light and seamlessly transition the indoor and outdoor living. Full-length curtains, adapted so as to be easily drawn with minimal effort, allow for evening privacy. Touches of gold and brass accents contrast brushed textures and finishes to add a flavour of vintage sophistication, helping the space to exude the class, comfort and romance of the popular thriving 1920s and art deco era.

Master bedroom

Riverstone KensingtonThe master bedroom is light and airy, making every day feel like a Sunday morning. The emerald bedframe and matching pillows are complimented by neutral, calming tones throughout the space. Natural and organic themes run throughout the room, from the wall art to the colour pallet, and the hint of gold ties the bedroom to the rest of the apartment. The wallpaper is intricate without being distracting, combining with the art and the curtains to add texture and tangibility to the room. A soft luxurious carpet ensures maximum comfort, and the double curtains protect privacy whilst allowing for plenty of light to enter. The room is well-stocked with storage space and is adjoined by an en suite bathroom, making it the perfect relaxing retreat for those quiet moments.

Study/reading room

Riverstone KensingtonThe third bedroom has been converted to a vibrant and energising reading room. The red wall colour is youthful and vibrant, complimented by pops of colour in the rug and sofa cushions. Yet, the room remains classy and studious thanks in part to the grand hardwood desk and gold-accented end tables. There is a sleekness to the vertical blinds, which can open to reveal full-height windows which soak the room in sun, or close to create a private enclave for reading, writing or entertaining. Organic, natural forms run through the room, from the table lamps to the art on the walls, and the dual-height ceiling casts a focus on the desk and relaxing levity on the sofa.

The Riverstone Club

Riverstone KensingtonWell-being is at the heart of Riverstone’s ethos. Residents automatically become members of The Riverstone Club, allowing them to enjoy not just the amenities of their own home location, but also those of Riverstone’s other London locations. The Riverstone Club encourages residents to make new friends and reconnect with old ones across the city.

Riverstone Kensington is home to a wide array of high-quality amenities, including a restaurant, bar, library, exercise studio and private cinema.

Riverstone KensingtonAll of these spaces have well-being at their heart, with comfortable furnishings and impeccable service. Greenery and natural wood adorn the bar area at Kensington, giving the space the flavour of a country retreat. However, the furnishings retain the class and glamour of a London lounge, replete with stunning marble-topped coffee tables and stately Chesterfield armchairs. This is the perfect spot to unwind and catch up with friends and family.

Private balconies

Riverstone KensingtonEach resident will benefit from their own private balcony and outdoor space. Bringing the outdoors in, sliding doors in the living space and onto the private balcony create a serene haven with exceptional views for residents - a perfect fit for an evening glass of wine as it is for a late-morning coffee. Views over Riverstone Kensington’s tranquil gardens are paired with a varied collection of greenery which brings the gardens up to you.

The gardens

Riverstone KensingtonThe beautifully landscaped gardens and walkways at Riverstone Kensington have been carefully curated by award-winning garden and landscaping designer, Andy Sturgeon.

The Chelsea Flower Show extraordinaire and gold medallist has integrated thoughtful landscaping and horticultural choices to create a stimulating but tranquil environment for all to enjoy. Seating areas and communal spaces create a subtle respite, enabling residents to socialise and be active whilst still protecting the gardens’ serenity. The plants and gardens have been curated to encourage residents to interact with nature through the senses in a stimulating and energising way.

A bespoke herb garden, designed by renowned herb expert Jekka McVicar VMH, accompanies the gardens, encouraging residents to remain active through the enjoyment of gardening, and further giving them access to the health and well-being benefits of a multitude of herbs.
