David Wilson Homes East Midlands and interior designers Artspace show spring trends whilst social distancing...

David Wilson Homes East Midlands has teamed up with one of its top interior designers, Artspace, to show homeowners in Leicestershire how they can achieve spring trends.

Whilst observing the government guidelines, a lot of homeowners are thinking about redecorating their home so what better way than to give their property a spring makeover.

Managing director of Artspace Interior Design, Kate Letteriello, has given her handy tips on how individuals can get creative in their home, and create an ambience that’s perfect for the season.

Kate said: “Design trends constantly change throughout the year and as we are now in spring, we are seeing much more colour being used throughout homes and bold patterns that really help to brighten your mood and reflect on the sunshine.

“Spring represents new life with plants growing, coming into bloom, and we see much more sunshine, it can be very uplifting.

“The show homes we have designed at David Wilson Homes’ developments showcase a property’s potential while creating a memorable viewing for house hunters that makes them feel like their dream home is a reachable goal.”

Use pastel colours for a soft transition from winter to summer

Pastel colours are generally used in spring as they’re a soft transition from the warm atmospheric colours of winter into the cool bright colours of summer. They’re also great for layering, meaning that you don’t have to stick with one colour and can use a few different shades in one room.

This season we say goodbye to grey, so why not try teaming your chosen pastels with a warmer base of beige or taupe. Yellow is also a key colour for the spring, why not try injecting a little sunshine into your interior, whether it be a bright daffodil yellow, more muted mustard or a soft calming lemon it’s bound to bring a little happiness into your home.

Brighten your home with patterns, plants and scents

Bright, floral prints are making a comeback this season, turning your home into a bold and beautiful haven that will take you into the summer months.

House plants are still very popular and will really brighten up the home, they are a great way to celebrate the season of new beginnings by bringing the outdoors in.

Spring is also the perfect time to give your home a bit of a pamper, so why not invest in some reed diffusers or scented candles to bring the scent of spring indoors and create a calming and tranquil space?

Mix up old and new

An increasingly popular trend is to mix old and new to create an eclectic feel to your home. why not give that old coffee table a new lease of life, and re-paint in one of this season’s on trend colours? Finish the look with quirky accessories bought back from holidays, and don’t forget the sofa, give it a spring makeover by adding a variety of patterned and textured statement cushions.

Rachael Harrison, sales director at David Wilson Homes East Midlands, said: “We always try to keep up with the latest design trends to suit each season and communicate our brand and style through this.

“Show homes are a place for inspiration for many of our customers who come back to seek out ideas for decorating their own homes and, whilst they can’t visit our show homes, these top tips are a great way for people to achieve a stylish and seasonal look in their own home.”
