Show Home Room By Room: Maybrey Works, Sydenham
A striking show apartment at Bellway’s Maybrey Works development in Sydenham has provided a modern twist on the site’s industrial past.
The development, which is transforming the former Maybrey Foundry site off Worsley Bridge Road, offers a selection of one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments adjacent to Pool River.
With a range of apartment types available, each of the five blocks that make up the development will offer something different to young professionals and first-time buyers.
The team at Vesta Interiors have styled the two-bedroom show home with deluxe features and modern fittings, to allow people to experience the quality of the finish first-hand.
Alice Milnes, senior interior designer at Vesta Interiors, said: “We used leather upholstery and oak furniture combined with dark paint colours and black-and-white photography to create a moody and raw feel to the apartment.
“The modern industrial look throughout Maybrey Works is designed to appeal to target buyers who want to be near central London and the City.”
The hallway
Alice said: “In the hallway, we painted the walls and ceiling a dark colour to set the moody tone of the property and to make the space feel wrapped in colour and warmth. We added the metal accessories on the wall to appeal to the target buyers and we hung the large mirror to reflect light and to make the space feel larger.”
The open-plan kitchen/living/dining room
Sleek, soft grey cabinets fit neatly across one wall of the kitchen, providing plenty of storage space as well as modern integrated appliances.
An industrial look dining table, with quirky contemporary chairs set opposite a dining bench with woven seat, is overlooked by a statement circular mirror.
Alice said: “We continued the industrial feel in the living area by using a concrete effect wallpaper and paired it with solid wooden furniture and modern artwork. To keep the room balanced and inviting we used a warm neutral colour on the opposing wall and added soft textured fabrics, faux fur cushions, and a mix of botanicals.”
Master bedroom
Alice said: “In the master bedroom we chose a leather pillow-backed headboard to create a statement look and on the opposite wall hung a large mirror above the dressing table. We added striking bedside tables with a studded detail and balanced the look with soft velvet cushions and indoor plants.”
The master bedroom is complemented with a luxurious en suite with a double shower, grey marbled tiles and chrome heated towel rail.
Bedroom two
The second bedroom is the perfect space for a young professional working from home, with a sleek modern desk and leather chair providing a space to work, separate from the day-to-day home life.
Alice continued: “In the second bedroom, we opted for another bold headboard and paired this with brown leather cushions and soft linen bedding to create a welcoming space. The black bedside tables and modern table lamps continue the industrial feel and are complemented by the neutral wall colour. We also added some simple black colour blocking and shelves in this area to create a separate workspace.”
There’s currently a selection of one, two and three-bedroom apartments available to reserve at Maybrey Works, with prices starting at £357,500. Find out more from Bellway.
