WhatHouse? takes a tour of the luxury new show home at Sovereign’s Cleve Wood development in South Gloucestershire…

The team at Sovereign worked alongside an award-winning interior designer to create an inspiring show home at Cleve Wood, that combines practicality with luxury in every room.

The interior of this stunning five-bedroom property has been elevated with a sophisticated palette to create memorable rooms that evoke the feeling of style combined with modern family living. The collection of homes is set on the outskirts of Thornbury, an attractive South Gloucestershire town which provides the perfect blend of village-style living in a flourishing market town.

Designed to appeal to contemporary buyers, the five-bedroom show home was designed and dressed by interior designers Andrew Henry Interiors, and showcases Sovereign’s in-depth understanding of what local buyers are seeking.

Paul Garland, the lead designer on the project, describes his vision: “This house is styled to appeal to families with busy lives. Its aspirational design combined with bespoke artwork also gives the feeling of a family home paired with the feel of a boutique hotel. We wanted to create a wow factor in every room that would capture the imagination of visitors. The home has been cohesively brought together with a sophisticated neutral colour scheme, which is given depth with a variety of colour accents and rattan elements with an Asian influence. Farrow & Ball classic paint shades and indulgent soft furnishings further enhance the finish in this home.”

On entering the home, visitors are greeted by a spacious entrance hall and attractive staircase that wends its way upstairs. The downstairs has an interlinking room which gives it a wonderful flow and sense of openness, creating a welcoming and functional living space for both family gatherings and everyday living.

Study

Cleve Wood (Sovereign)

Leading off the hallway, there is a study, which has been designed for co-working. A great space for two people to work at the same time, the interiors here set off the overall look for the whole house, that of a family that have enjoyed travelling through-out Asia and the Far East.

Kitchen / family area

Cleve Wood (Sovereign)

A gorgeous open-plan room that hosts a kitchen and dining area is the heart of the home. Crafted around a breakfast bar the kitchen has light grey gloss style units. The neutral tones of the kitchen area are set alongside a striking turquoise blue wall in the dining area. A large wooden table and set of wicker chairs are centralised in the dining area with a vintage rust and blue rug which adds warmth to the room.

Principal lounge

Continuing the indulgent tone, a collection of textures flourish in the smart lounge. Aligning comfort with elegance, two neutral sofas are paired with a reclaimed coffee table and the sideboard adds a real feeling of luxury to the room with neutral earth tones giving the room a beautiful sense of style. The room has been further fashioned with classic artwork and accessories from South East Asia giving the room a touch of oriental class.

Snug

Cleve Wood (Sovereign)

The lounge seamlessly spills into a snug which would work equally well as an adults only retreat or dedicated hangout space for the kids. The well-designed room has double doors from the lounge, offering residents the option of making the room a sociable space that flows through or a separate hideaway. This cosy room has been painted with a striking burnt umber, paired with a deep cream sofa and contemporary photos stylishly set on dark shelving units. Denim blue scatter cushions add another depth to the room, alongside a ratan rug and contemporary coffee table, Aztec print curtains bring in a tribe feel. The snug has a fabulous overview of the garden and double doors that on a warm day allows the outside in.

Ascending the staircase, visitors arrive at the first-floor landing providing access to wonderful family living space. The principal bedroom has a boutique hotel feel, emphasised by a sumptuous king-size bed with an attractive painted wood and ratan headboard which blends beautifully with the feature wall. The room has been dressed with oriental bedside chests and oversized table lamps, the bed has an Aztec throw and gorgeous scatter cushions in both off-white and black and a rich dark red velvet. This room boasts a spacious walk-through dressing room linking directly to the en-suite with a walk-in shower.

Second bedroom

Cleve Wood (Sovereign)

The second bedroom provides an ideal space for a teenager or a spare room for visiting family, with a double bed showcasing a dark rattan headboard, paired with muted tones of cream and beige that dress the room. Rattan side tables, contemporary lamps and a floor rug with tones of apricot give the room warmth. This bedroom also benefits from an en-suite shower room.

Bedroom three

Cleve Wood (Sovereign)

Bedroom three is cycling-inspired, with a wonderful hand-painted mural depicting a mountain biker in mid-descent. Ideal for a growing boy, the bed is a double with classic off-white and dark grey bedding. To add colour half the room has been painted in a mustard tone and is finished with stylish blinds and a desk.

Bedroom four

Cleve Wood (Sovereign)

The fourth bedroom has been styled to showcase its multi-use as a further guest room or additional study space for homeworking, complete with a rattan chair and day bed. Aztec wall furnishings blend with a contemporary light that throws colour across the room and a bold roman blind.

Bedroom five

Cleve Wood (Sovereign)

To showcase the versatility of this home the fifth bedroom has been created as a multigym/music area. The room has a very large mirror that will enable any gym fanatic to keep an eye on their posture and yoga mats are hanging on the wall. A bench press, cycle and a white storage shelving set allow visitors to see the generous size of this, the smallest bedroom, with a large beanbag for taking a rest mid-work out. The room has been painted in two tones, split through the middle, to show a multi-functional use of space.
