Barratt unveils new show homes at Kent development this weekend

Posted 1 November 2016 by Keith Osborne

The national housebuilder is providing two show houses at a village new homes development in rural Kent that was launched in September...

Having launched the first phase of homes at the Saxon Place development in September, Barratt Homes is opening two show homes at the Harrietsham development on Saturday 5 November.

Professional designers Andrew Henry Interiors have been busy dressing both the show homes to provide inspiration to house-hunters attracted to life in the Kent village and to highlight the layout and build quality of the homes there. These properties will be open from 11.00am to 4.00pm both days on the launch weekend.

In all, Saxon Place will provide 69 new homes, with a variety of house types offering two, three or four bedrooms, appealing to first-time buyers, growing families and downsizers alike. Prices at the development currently start at £330,500. The Help to Buy scheme is available at the site, requiring buyers to provide just a 5% deposit, which is supplemented by a government equity loan that is interest-free for the furst five years and only repayable when the property is sold.

Pam Reardon, sales and marketing director for Barratt Kent says: “There has been keen interest in Saxon Place and our sales success so far reflects that.  We take pride in creating well-designed, quality new communities that integrate with the current area. Saxon Place will, when complete, make a positive and appealing addition to the character of Harrietsham, contributing to its restoration. By working with the very best interior designers, our new show homes reflect our understanding of how people live and what they really want from a village home.”

One of the new show homes is the three-bedroom ‘Barwick’, where the designers have chsen a silver and grey palette with bright yellow accents. The home has a large open-plan living/dining room, separate kitchen, two double bedrooms and a single bedroom, with a cloakroom downstairs and family bathroom upstairs.

The other show house, a ‘Faringdon’ three-bedroom property, uses a similar base colour scheme, with plum replacing yellow to bring highlights around the home and richer wood tones in its furniture. This larger, angled property has an open-plan kitchen/breakfast room, lounge, dining room and cloakroom downstairs and three bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs, with an en suite to the master bedroom.

Andrew Henry, founder and director at Andrew Henry Interiors, says of the homes his company has fitted: “We have designed both show homes with the country setting in mind. Both properties afford the ideal in family living – versatile open-plan or broken-plan downstairs living areas, depending on your lifestyle and how you prefer to live.”

Harrietsham is located just a few miles south-west of Maidstone, on the southern fringes of the North Downs. This new development is designed with a village green, children’s play area and numerous pedestrian walkways, with houses set around mews courtyards.

The village is close to the M20 and A20, and has its own railways station with services to London Victoria and Ashford International. Maidstone hosts an excellent selection of shops, amenities and leisure facilities, as well as a number of highly regarded schools.
