Ideal Home And Community For Family In Trumpington

After renting a home there for six months, the Rizvi family purchased a brand new house from Barratt Homes and have since been enjoying every moment of life at the Trumpington Meadows development, just south of Cambridge.

Originally from Gurgaon in India, Adil and Gillian Rizvi made the move to Trumpington to support Adil’s career move, alongside their daughters Jessica and Alyssa.

Adil was part of the Indian Air Force for eight years, before becoming a commercial pilot for an additional 14 years and moving to the UK to work for Ryanair.

He said: “We’d been renting a property at Trumpington Meadows for six months and after selling our home in India, decided to make a permanent move to a community we’d already grown to love.”

The family did some very thorough research before choosing a place to live.

“What we did was we drew an imaginary 30-minute sort of arc around Stansted to look for a place to stay. I didn't want to be driving too far to work and we looked at lots, lots of places,” continued Adil. “We looked at Chelmsford, Cheshunt and Enfield, and we looked at Hertford, Bishop Stortford, Stansted Mountfitchet. But once we came here and we saw Cambridge in general, and once you drove through this development in particular, we didn't really have to look too hard anywhere else because we were quite happy to end up over here

The couple purchased a four-bedroom ‘Casa’ style property, which also accommodates a study, giving their family more room to grow. And Gillian is especially happy with a special feature of this house type, the sunken terrace on the garage.

She added: “The sizes of the bedrooms appealed to us, and we liked the location of the living room on the ground floor. The number of bathrooms is also beneficial for us as a family, as we’ve got two bedrooms with en suites and a family bathroom which is very convenient.

“As we didn’t require a study, we’ve turned the spare room into media room for the children to watch TV when they have friends over. We’ve got everything we need at Trumpington Meadows with a Sainsbury’s and Waitrose on the doorstep, easy access to primary and secondary schools and the park and ride which we used a fair amount to reach Cambridge.”

The couple have been delighted by the sense of community they have discovered: “People are friendly. There's a large mix nationalities and personalities, all sorts of people, and I think that's really important. School is a ten-minute cycle ride away for the children, and they've got a lot of their friends and schoolmates who live within the development so it's easy for them to catch up with them, so they are very happy too.”
