Barratt Homes has opened the doors to its first show homes at a recently launched development called The Poppies, in Aylesford, Kent.

The three-bedroom ‘Norbury’ and four-bedroom ‘Alderney’ house types are designed by Artspace Interiors. Amy Hazelton, client account manager at Artspace Interiors, commented: “The team designed the ‘Norbury’ around the idea of a local family who are upsizing into a family home with a young child. With nature central to the lifestyle at The Poppies, our focus for both homes were bringing the outside in, reflected most notably with the colour scheme employed throughout. For the ‘Norbury’, touches of earthy greens and hints of soft blush have helped us to create a sense of escapism and relaxation for those coming home at the end of a busy day.”

The Poppies has 15.9 acres dedicated to open space, comprising of green areas, play parks and biodiversity sections with a network of walkways and cycle paths. Amy added: “We have used lots of textures and warm light woods to bring in some warmth, it feels lovely and really inviting. We have used a neutral colour palette to create a Scandi-feel sanctuary, making it a contemporary and practical family home and a space that feels like somewhere you could really relax and unwind.”

Alderney show homeAlongside the ‘Norbury’, the ‘Alderney’ has also been designed with family living in mind, with Amy adding: “We employed a range of warm caramels and dusty blues to set a rich and opulent tone that flows from room to room helping to create that timeless and classic feel which we felt was perfect for this luxurious house type. We also included a bespoke piece of artwork, unique to the development, in the lounge which reflects the colour scheme and was painted by our very own creative team here at Artspace.”

The Poppies will offer a range of new homes suitable for first-time buyers as well as families or local professionals, with a 60/40 split of private and social affordable homes.
