World champion boxer rates his new home as a knockout

WBO lightweight boxing champion Terrence Flanagan is celebrating another success, getting his family on the property ladder in a new Lovell home in Ancoats

WBO boxing champion, Terence Flanagan, is getting ready to swap his boxing gloves for oven gloves after adding a new title to his ever-growing list – that of homeowner.

Terence, 27, whose nickname is Turbo, has bought a brand new Lovell home at Bramah Place in Ancoats, Manchester. He said: “I love it. We really wanted the house and it was the only one of its style available when we decided to look at the development, so we feel really lucky.”

Terence, who lives with girlfriend, Chanel, and their three-year-old son, Frankie, adds: “It’s perfect. It’s our first real family home and it’s ideal.”

The first ever Englishman to win a world title as a lightweight, Terence has held onto his title four times and defended his belt against Puerto Rico’s Orlando Cruz in November.

He says: “Things are going well at the moment, with 32 unbeaten fights, and I feel at the top of my game.

“You have to give it 100% at this level of the sport and that’s what I intend to do. I have achieved so much already and I have got another three or four years at the top if I work hard and give it everything.”

Thankfully, it will be easier to maintain peak fitness and championship form in his new three-bedroom home, which is ‘over the road’ from Terence’s gym, where he trains on a daily basis.

Terence said: “The location could not be better. It’s close to my gym which was a very big selling point for me, and close to mine and Chanel’s family which is important to us both. I grew up in a big family – I have got five brothers and sisters – and I like staying close.

“We take Frankie round to our mums and dads to play, and we can see them whenever we want. Previously we have only ever rented but it was important, and made sense, to finally have our own home, for us and our little boy.

“The houses are lovely, modern and spacious. So, yes, life is good on all fronts just now.”

Bramah Place is part of the exciting plan to build 1,000 homes to the east of Manchester city centre, in the area now known as Platting Village.

The homes aimed at first-time buyers who want to invest in their own property instead of paying out rent with nothing to show for it, as well as families looking to move up the property ladder.

Situated within an established residential area, residents of Bramah Place, and Platting Village as a whole, will not only have a great new place to call home, they will be within easy reach of a host of local amenities including schools, Miles Platting and Ancoats’ Sure Start Children’s Centre, Victoria Mill and the sports facilities at Eastlands.

The third phase at Platting Village will be launched next month. Named Lockside thanks to its enviable canalside location, there will be something for everyone among the 75, two, three and four-bedroom homes overlooking The Green, a central park within Platting Village.

Clare Noakes, regional sales director for Lovell (North West), is delighted to welcome a world champion resident to the development. She said: “Platting Village is proving itself to be an increasingly sought-after address in an up and coming area of Manchester. It offers style and substance for prospective home owners, whatever their tastes and needs.”
