Upsizing with Help to Buy in Langford

Posted 19 June 2018 by Helen Christie

A Bedfordshire couple has used the Help to Buy scheme to upsize to a family home at David Wilson Homes’ Kingsley Manor development in Langford…

Alan Endersby and Cheryl Oswick-Endersby chose to move from a three-bedroom mid-terraced property in Clifton to their new four-bedroom detached Bradgate style home at the leading developer’s Station Road development.

The couple, a chartered accountant and a pre-school assistant, thoughtfully selected Kingsley Manor as the ideal location to raise their 13-year-old daughter and seven-year-old son.

Alan says: “Having grown up with village life, we are keen that our children have a similar upbringing. We chose the area as it is a fantastic village location.

“We chose to buy with David Wilson Homes as the styles of the properties really fitted with the lifestyle of our family. Once meeting with the members of staff, we found they were all friendly, helpful and most of all very knowledgeable.

“Using the Help to Buy scheme allowed us to get the right house for our family and it fitted with our plans.

“We particularly chose the Bradgate style home due to the downstairs layout and the fact that it has four double bedrooms. The open plan design of the property, with the kitchen, dining and living areas is fantastic and the real hub of the house, making meal times a real joy.”

Whilst benefiting from a property with generous living spaces suited to their needs, both the development and its surrounding areas boast great advantages and a comfortable lifestyle for the whole family.

Alan adds: “The local area is lovely and whilst there will be two parks on the development, there is another park in the village which we enjoy visiting with the kids. There are two convenience shops including one with a post office, a couple of pubs, the local schools are all good and it’s just 10 minutes from the nearest supermarket.

“While the houses have plenty of space between them you still feel a connection to neighbours, which is creating a lovely sense of community. We were the first to move onto the development and we have been so lucky with our neighbours. Everyone stops for a chat and to see how you are, and we already know that if we ever need anything someone would be there to help.”

Alongside the NHBC 10-year warranty and David Wilson Homes’ two-year warranty offering welcome security, Alan and Cheryl were quick to set their sights on a new build property for many reasons.

Alan continues: “From our experiences, new build homes are better designed for modern day living. There was also something very appealing in having a blank canvas in which to put our own stamp on the interior and exterior of the house, without being bound by what a previous owner may, or may not, have done.

“Our purchasing experience was very good and having purchased the plot off plan, we were kept well informed and often invited to check out the progress ourselves. The experience of choosing certain interiors such as the kitchen was great and the assistance from David Wilson Homes’ staff was invaluable.”

Jackie Day, sales director at David Wilson Homes South Midlands, says: “Earning positive customer feedback is one of our top priorities and we’re delighted to hear how well the Endersby family have settled into their new home at Kingsley Manor.

“It’s also great to learn how successfully the family utilised the Help to Buy scheme, which has provided significant financial aid for an extensive range of homebuyers since its introduction five years ago.”

“The scheme is ideal for anyone looking to buy their first home or upsize, helping buyers to advance on the property ladder more affordably.”

Kingsley Manor currently boasts a beautiful selection of four- and five-bedroom homes with prices starting from £449,995.
