Space, Freedom And Independence For Bedfordshire Buyer
Hannah chose Luton to be closer to her family in Lilley, a small village on the outskirts of the town, moving from the flat that she currently owns with a friend in Southfields, London.
Although the HR advisor has found herself working from home during most of lockdown, part of the appeal is that her new commute to work will take just under an hour via the Luton Parkway. This is considerably shorter than her current commute on the District Line, which is so often fraught with regular delays taking her up to an hour and a half.
Hannah says: “I have never lived by myself – I went straight from living at home with family to multiple flat shares during University, and then to flat shares in London. I’m at the point now where I would enjoy living by myself and know it would give me the freedom to do what I want. My new flat gives me the opportunity to do this without scrimping on space. The living area feels big and open, despite coming from a shared two-bedroom apartment.”
One of the main drivers for Hannah in choosing Lu2on was her family roots to the area. She continues: “The main attraction for me has to be the area. The apartment is close to where I grew up in Lilley, so I’ll have lots of friends and family close by to ensure I am never lonely.”

“It’s really interesting to see how Luton has developed over the last ten years, there is so much more going on. It means despite moving away from Southfields, I won’t be missing the London lifestyle. The scheme itself has so much to offer, with shops and restaurants on your doorstep. I’m looking forward to using the gym and the rooftop gardens in particular. I wanted to make sure wherever I moved to had some outdoor space.”
Luton’s vibrant community has been undergoing significant transformation, part of a £1.5bn regeneration programme. Uniquely, the development offers easy access to central London via Luton Airport Parkway in under half an hour and with the upcoming DART will speed travellers to Luton Airport in under 4 minutes, whilst surrounded by the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
As well as the location, Hannah also noted the appeal in having Strawberry Star manage the scheme. She adds: “Having Strawberry Star’s maintenance on-site was a big attraction too; it means any issues I can just pop down and ask. It’s reassuring to know the building owner is always available, especially during the move-in process.”
Ideal for first-time buyers and young professionals, Strawberry Star’s Lu2on will offer 877 new homes. The development will also benefit from a hotel, gym, shops, supermarket, pharmacy, childcare services, bars and restaurants.
Cauvery Nanaiah, senior director global sales and marketing at Strawberry Star, comments: “I’m thrilled that Hannah was able to find the dream home that she has been looking for. Lu2on has so far proved incredibly popular with young professionals wanting a lively and accessible London style location, without the Zone 1 price tag.”
Homes at Lu2on start at £220,000.
