Newlyweds find perfect first home with Help to Buy

Posted 13 February 2017 by Ben Salisbury

Roger and Eloise Wilson have found the perfect new home to start married life together at David Wilson Homes' Great Western Park development in Didcot

A couple who have just got married have found the perfect home to start the rest of their lives together.

Eloise and Roger Wilson moved into their new David Wilson home at Great Western Park in Didcot thanks to the government-backed Help to Buy scheme. The couple were attracted to the Blackthorn Road development because of its convenient location and attractive homes. After viewing a three bedroom, semi-detached home, the couple found that Great Western Park suited their lifestyle and offered an array of local amenities they could benefit from.

They are now both able to take advantage of the fantastic commuter links to Oxford and London, whilst enjoying their peaceful, semi-rural location. Their black pug called Harry is also enjoying the new home as it’s close to a number of country parks meaning he can enjoy long walks, and it has a generously sized garden for him to play in.

Eloise, 33, said: “We had already lived in Didcot and liked the area so we wanted to remain local and when we saw the Great Western Park development we fell in love with the houses. We knew that David Wilson Homes had a five star rating as a housebuilder and were very impressed by the sense of space that is given in the homes. The transport links to Oxford and London were very important to myself and Roger when looking for our new home so that we could both get to work easily. We wanted to have a home that we could personalise to our own tastes and it was made so much easier with the use of the government-backed Help to Buy scheme where we reserved our home with just a 5% deposit.”

Eloise works as a client services executive with a coaching consultancy and benefits from the easy access to the M4.

Roger, 27, who works as a butler, cycles to the nearby Didcot Parkway train station where it takes him just 15 minutes to get into his job in Oxford. He says: “This house suits our lifestyle perfectly, especially as newlyweds looking to settle down, because now we have all the space we need and the garden is a really generous size perfect for Harry to have a run around in.”

Sharon Smith, sales manager at David Wilson Homes Southern, remarks: “We are delighted to hear that Eloise and Roger have settled into their new home at Great Western Park. This development offers beautifully crafted homes that are tailored to suit a range of different homebuyers and has interiors that can easily be changed to reflect your tastes, so it’s great to hear they can make it their own.”

Great Western Park currently has a range of four-bedroom homes left with prices starting from £370,000.
