New Family Home at Cwm Celyn

Posted 3 October 2018 by Helen Christie

For John and Laura Hopkins, the decision to buy at Barratt Homes’ new Cwm Celyn development in Tonna was a real no-brainer...

The couple and their three children were living close by in the village but next to a very busy road. As soon as the family heard about plans for a new development, they got in touch with the award-winning housebuilder to find out more.

John, 38, says: “We always wanted a new build away from any main roads so the children could play safely. Cwm Celyn is in a perfect location for us with regards to the schools, near family, friends and work.

“When we visited the development, we fell in love with the Thornton style of house and instantly knew it was the layout and open plan style we were after for a busy family of five. We have three little girls – Ellie, Isobel, and Sofia. Sofia was born prematurely at 31 weeks and has mobility issues, so a home with more space was a wonderful find for us. The Thornton has a driveway for two cars and is wide enough for her walker. And the entrance to the property is on a level surface which makes it accessible.”

The Thornton is a beautiful light and airy four bedroom detached house with a garage, designed for open-plan living. The lounge is spacious and the kitchen/diner is great for entertaining.

Laura adds: “We went for a Gold package kitchen which is beautiful. The whole finish, standard and quality on the build is flawless - and is often commented on by those who visit us.”

The family were the first to reserve a plot at Cwm Celyn, and took advantage of the housebuilder's part exchange scheme. This makes it easy for buyers to move up the property ladder without the burden of finding a buyer for their existing home.

John continues: “We were thrilled about the opportunity to move here - and our sales advisors at Barratt Homes made the whole process easy for us. We can’t thank them and their site colleagues enough for their incredible support. This is a wonderful place to live. Our children are happy at school here, it’s just a five-minute walk into town - and the M4 isn’t far away so commuting is easy. We couldn’t be happier in our quiet little cul-de-sac of five homes.”

With a collection of two-, three- and four-bedroom homes built with both families and first-time buyers in mind, Cwm Celyn in Tonna is a great place to call home. It is located in the heart of the valley with the River Neath nearby and surrounded by countryside, the development also offers easy access to Swansea, Bridgend and Cardiff.
