Moving made easy with Home Change

Posted 23 May 2016 by Helen Christie

A young family from Glasgow has saved thousands on the cost of moving thanks to a scheme that has taken the hassle out of selling their existing property.

Jacqueline and Grant Burns first enquired about a new home at the Persimmon Homes Glenmill development before construction had begun and waited patiently until they could reserve a property.

During their conversations with Persimmon Homes West Scotland sales adviser, Ruth Hart, the couple learnt that the Home Change scheme could offer them a quick and straightforward route to selling their existing three bedroom semi-detached house.

Home Change can be used in conjunction with Help to Buy Scotland scheme which was re-launched in March 2016.

Jacqueline says: “We bought our existing home from Persimmon five years ago and were very excited when we found out that they were building in Darnley.  We really wanted to move to the new Glenmill development so that our son Jack can go to St. Angela’s Primary School and jumped at the chance to buy as soon as the site opened.

“Our sales adviser Ruth explained that using Home Change meant that we wouldn’t have to organise a Home Buyers report, find a buyer or pay estate agents fees, Persimmon would handle everything – it was so easy.

“We thought that this kind of scheme would mean that we would receive a lower valuation for our existing property but were ecstatic to be offered £10,000 more than the Home Report from the buyer.”

Jacqueline and Grant will move into their new four-bedroom detached house in the summer, just in time for Jack to start school in August.

Ingrid Gahagan, sales and marketing director at Persimmon Homes West Scotland says: “People are often wary of purchasing schemes and feel that there must be a catch but in fact Home Change is 100% transparent and headache free.

“We arrange two independent valuations, agree the price with the customer and take on the responsibility to appoint an estate agent to market the property.  We arrange viewings and keep the customer in the loop throughout the process - all they have to do is look forward to moving into their new home.”

Glenmill is located in the popular residential area of Darnley on an elevated site that overlooks the town.  The range of three-, four- and five-bedroom properties are ideally situated just east of Barrhead with excellent road links to the M77.
