Retired Couple Find New Home And New Life In Chichester
Posted 11 October 2021 by
Keith OsborneAfter stumbling across the new Miller Homes Minerva Heights neighbourhood in Chichester during a walk in Spring 2020, Alan (71) and Stephen (63) decided to begin retired life in a new build home.
Having sold their business and benefiting from reduced Stamp Duty, the couple, along with their Great Dane, Fanny, moved into their four-bedroom detached ‘Shenstone’ style home in May 2021 at Miller Homes’ latest West Sussex development.
Opening up about their move, Stephen explained: “As we were retiring and selling our business, we were able to buy our home without a mortgage which made the process extremely smooth. We saw when the sales office was due to open, studied the site plans and decided to reserve a plot. Exactly six months later we picked up the keys and shortly after, we were settling down in our cosy new home; it instantly felt very homely.”
Chatting about why they chose the ‘Shenstone’, Alan said: “We were instantly attracted to the ‘Shenstone’ house type as it was a two-storey home and situated in a beautiful area on the development. We previously lived in a three-storey house with very steep stairs and it just didn’t suit our lifestyle anymore. Our new home is largely open-plan which is great for entertaining and ensuring that our Fanny has plenty of space to roam.
“The garden is also a good size to easily maintain, and the flint and stone finish makes the house look even more special. Its design is very sympathetic to the location.”
Stephen, added: “We really wanted a house that didn’t require a lot of work before we moved in so that’s is why a new build is perfect for us. The neighbourhood has already been very welcoming and we are looking forward to the future and being part of this community.”
Katrina Crawford, sales and marketing director at Miller Homes Southern, said: “Minerva Heights is a stunning development, especially for a couple like Alan and Stephen who were looking for a home to suit their new retired lifestyle. It offers an idyllic location nearby South Downs National Park for walks with Fanny, and the bustling city centre is less than two-miles away.
“The neighbourhood is already proving very popular, so I’d encourage anyone interested in purchasing a home in this sought-after area to get in touch and make an appointment to visit our state-of-the-art show homes.”
