A Perfect Garden For Downsizing Couple in Suffolk

Posted 6 May 2021 by Keith Osborne

Mr and Mrs Bane found the right home in which to enjoy private outside space at McCarthy Stone's Manor Gardens in Hadleigh...

When Mr and Mrs Bane decided to downsize for a more relaxing retirement, there was one thing they were reluctant to give up, their garden. Fortunately, McCarthy Stone’s collection of bungalows at its popular Manor Gardens development on High Street in Hadleigh, Suffolk, offered the perfect solution.

Mrs Bane explained: “We had a lovely home, but it was getting too big for us to manage and we wanted to spend our retirement doing the things we enjoyed, which is why we decided to downsize. However, we wanted somewhere with outside space we could enjoy, especially as we knew our dog would be coming with us. As soon as we saw the bungalows at Manor Gardens, we knew they were for us. The garden is just the right size and the layout of the house is ideal. We have a downstairs bedroom and bathroom which suits us perfectly, particularly as my husband struggles with the stairs. We even have a garage!

“The community here at Manor Gardens is also a very friendly. Our neighbours are lovely, and we get to meet lots of new people when out walking the dog, which is a real joy, especially during lockdown. We can’t wait to be able to start socialising a little bit more as restrictions are lifted.

“The team at Manor Gardens are brilliant too. They’re happy to help with whatever we need. We couldn’t have made a better decision in deciding to move and would certainly encourage anyone considering downsizing to a retirement bungalow to get on and do it!”

Set in private landscaped gardens with views over the River Brett and surrounding countryside, these attractive bungalows and cottages designed exclusively with those aged 55+ in mind, include a fully fitted kitchen with integrated appliances. The individual properties are designed to ensure privacy in the home, as well as encouraging a close-knit community feel. The central High Street in Hadleigh is less than 0.1 mile away, with local amenities such as a Post Office, supermarket and banks, as well as plenty of independent restaurants, shops and cafes.

More than nine out of 10 customers would recommend McCarthy Stone to a friend, ensuring it has received the full five-star award for customer satisfaction from the Home Builders Federation – the only UK housebuilder of any size or type to achieve this accolade for 16 consecutive years, which is every year the awards have been run. The company also received the Housebuilder Special Recognition Award 2020 for working hard to protect its customers – Covid-19 infection rates among homeowners are significantly below the national rate of infection across all age groups – and for innovation in the retirement sector.

The remaining two-bedroom homes at Manor Gardens start at £284,950. Find out more from McCarthy Stone.
