Still In Touch With Nature From A New City Apartment

Posted 30 November 2021 by Keith Osborne

Country girl Karen can still see lots of nature from the balcony of her brand new eighth-floor apartment at Trinity Walk...

Growing up in the countryside Karen Judge was delighted to feel connected with nature when picking a new home in the city when she fell for a new apartment at Trinity Walk in Woolwich with a view of trees and hills alongside the city landscape.

Karen’s one-bedroom Lovell Homes apartment is on the eighth floor with an east-facing balcony.

“When I was looking for somewhere having some outdoor space was a priority. I have a lovely view from the eighth floor from the balcony which has morning sun,” she explained. “You can see the sun rising right in front of you and I have a coffee out there to start the day. From the balcony I have the river on the left and trees and hills on the right. It’s like a bit of nature for me. I’m from the country so it’s nice to have trees around. I have woodlands next to me. Behind the trees there’s a good view of hills and rows of houses and it’s very pretty. You don’t think of that when you’re moving to south-east London that you’ll get that but this place does have a great view.”

Trinity WalkKaren, 32, is originally from Ireland, but works as a sonographer, splitting her time between Guy’s Hospital and St Thomas’ Hospital.

“I can get door-to-door to Guy’s Hospital in half-an-hour and to St Thomas’ in 50 minutes. It’s only a seven-minute walk to the station here,” she explained: “I wanted to live in the south-east with a good commute to work. I didn’t know much about Woolwich but I knew Greenwich. There seemed to be a lot of new builds around this area. This was affordable and has great transport links to work. People from work recommended it. Once I saw the apartment and the area, I really liked it.

“I really liked the size of the apartment and the area has everything on my doorstep. There’s a big Tesco Extra nearby which has everything and the high street in Woolwich has clothes shops and cafes and a market. I feel like it’s a town within itself – I don’t always have to get the train to go anywhere. The Royal Arsenal is just a 10-minute walk. It’s so nearby and there are nice restaurants and a lovely café for brunch. And I can walk down to the river which is nice.

“I knew Crossrail was coming next year and that will make the journey time just 15 minutes into Liverpool Street.

“They’re redeveloping the whole of Woolwich with a new cinema and leisure centre. It feels like an up-and-coming area, so I felt it was a good investment to buy here.”

Trinity WalkKaren has been impressed with the quality of the kitchen and bathroom in the apartment. “The shower is amazing and there’s a really deep bath. I was impressed with the size of the flat, the storage space and the open-plan living room.”

She was able to save more money towards her new home because she hadn’t been spending as much due to the pandemic.

As a first-time buyer, Karen bought her home for £375,000 under a Help to Buy scheme. “I wouldn’t have been able to do it on my own without the scheme. It’s getting you on the property ladder starting with cheaper mortgage payments. It’s less than I’d have to pay to rent somewhere on my own.”

Lovell Homes’ Trinity Walk includes one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments, with prices starting at £355,000. They are ready to move into and come with tailor-made incentive packages. Find out more from Lovell.
