First-Time Key Worker Buyers In Weston-Super-Mare

A couple in Weston-super-Mare have used Lovell Homes’ Key Workers scheme to help them take their first steps on the property ladder at Keepers Gate.

Febin Alex, 32, and his wife Resmi Joy, 31, who both work for the NHS at a local hospital, recently purchased a brand-new home at Keepers Gate, where they live with their one-year-old daughter Andrea.

After almost two years of renting in Weston-super-Mare, the couple wanted a place they could truly call their own. However, with them both working throughout the pandemic whilst taking care of their daughter Andrea, moving home was not made easy.

Resmi, who works as a nurse, said: “We wanted a bigger, more spacious property, and chose a brand new home because we love that it is a blank canvas; we can make it our own. Keepers Gate is in a really beautiful, hillside location, and it’s near to the hospital we both work at which is perfect. I work long days and nights, so when I come home, I love watching the sun set over the stunning views across Weston-super-Mare.”

Febin, who works as a health care assistant, added: “Due to the pandemic, the home moving process was slightly delayed, but Lovell was brilliant at keeping us in the loop and once government guidelines allowed, things were back up and running in no time. We’d definitely recommend Lovell Homes; the sales team and Key Workers scheme were both really helpful.”

Using the Key Workers scheme alongside the government-backed Help to Buy: Equity Loan scheme, the couple purchased a three-bedroom ‘Waverley’ style home, providing them with plenty of space. This spacious property features a stylish fully-fitted kitchen/dining room with French doors leading out onto the garden and three bedrooms to the first floor – perfect for a young family of three.

Lovell’s Key Worker scheme offers eligible individuals a £500 discount for every £25,000 spent on selected Lovell homes and includes flooring up to the value of £3,000 (terms and conditions apply) as an added extra, providing financial support for public sector personnel looking to move on or up the property ladder.

The couple also used the government-backed Help to Buy: Equity Loan scheme and purchased their home with just a 5% deposit. The remaining amount is made up of a 75% mortgage and a 20% equity loan, which is interest free for the first five years. Reservations on the first version of this initiative have now closed, but first-time buyer house-hunters are invited to register for a new scheme launching on 1 April 2021.

The final properties at Keepers Gate have now been released for sale and Lovell Homes is encouraging Somerset property seekers to enquire without delay about these three- and four-bedroom homes to avoid missing out on this stunning development. Current availability includes the three-bedroom ‘Waverley’ style home, priced from £376,995 and the four-bedroom ‘Balmoral’ style home, which is priced from £457,995. The development is open by appointment only, 10.00am to 5.00pm seven days a week.
