Stamp Duty Holiday Leads To ‘Forever Home’ Joy
With a new baby on the way, Pat and Alex were looking to move to their ‘forever home’ – and are now celebrating being the first residents at a brand-new development in Knaresborough.
The couple, who are expecting their second baby this summer, and their two-and-a-half-year-old daughter, are now settling in at Linden Homes’ Castle Gate development at Manse Farm. And with the help of the government’s Stamp Duty holiday – originally set to end on 31 March 2021 but recently extended until 30 June 2021 – the family has been able to save money on their move, allowing them to buy the home of their dreams.
Programme manager Pat explained: “We had outgrown our previous home and wanted more space. Our former properties had been built in the post-war era and we always dreamt of owning a new build. We were already living in Knaresborough, as Alex has family close by and we wanted to stay here.
“When we saw the Castle Gate development in progress, we thought it would be a perfect place to buy our ‘forever home’. The Stamp Duty holiday was a really big factor in our decision to move now, saving us thousands of pounds, without which we probably wouldn't have been able to afford the house of our dreams.”
Nursery manager Alex, who grew up in the town, added: “The development is ideally located for access to town and the motorway which is essential for Pat’s work. The site is nice and open, the new supermarket is convenient, and there are plans for a school close by. The house itself is just what we were looking for; modern, open-plan, with utility room, driveway, garage, nice large garden and big enough for our expanding family with room to spare.”
The couple have nothing but praise for the whole team, who helped to make the moving process as hassle-free as possible during a Christmas time move during lockdown!
Pat added: We're so comfortable here, we feel really happy and settled and we couldn't have asked for a more welcoming team - even down to the security guard who always says hello and waves to our daughter.
“We can’t praise the warm and friendly team we encountered at all the Linden Homes sites we visited enough. We were treated so well we wouldn't hesitate to recommend the development to anyone, and we'd encourage people not to delay any plans they have to move house because of the pandemic; it's really not that different of an experience to non-Covid times.”
Castle Gate will comprise a selection of 300 two-, three-, four- and five-bedroom properties, ideal for first-time buyers, young professional and families, with residents also benefiting from extensive areas of open space and landscaping.
And as well as the new homes themselves, there are plenty more reasons for buyers to make a home at the development their very own ‘castle’. Locates on the outskirts of the charming and historic market town of Knaresborough, there are more great shopping and entertainment options in Harrogate, only 4.5 miles away, as well as St James Retail Park, just 1.7 miles away. It’s just one mile from Knaresborough station with links to Leeds and York, and close to the A1 for easy motorway commuting. A selection of Ofsted-rated ‘Good’ and ‘Outstanding’ schools within easy reach in Knaresborough and Harrogate.
Prices at Castle Gate currently start from £289,950.
