A family of four have found their dream first home at Taylor Wimpey’s Soapstones development in Stourport-on-Severn thanks to the Help to Buy scheme.

John and Michelle Prestage and their two children, Vinnie, eight, and Annalise, four, moved into their brand new Gosford style home at Soapstones in July 2021, and are settling into life in their new home.

The three-bedroom home offers the Prestage family plenty of space, including a beautifully landscaped garden, with plenty of room for the children to run around and play.

Speaking about their new home, Michelle says: “Having two children, one of which is football crazy, a good sized garden was really important to us. Our garden has plenty of room for the children’s toys and sheds for us. We are so happy with the house.”

John adds: “Having been in rented housing for years, we found saving for a deposit extremely difficult. With the help of the Help to Buy scheme, we’ve been able to not only buy our first home, but a new build home, something we never thought would be possible.”

Backed by the government in England and Wales, the Help to Buy scheme allows buyers to purchase their dream home with as little as a 5% deposit. With Help to Buy, first-time buyers can get an equity loan of up to 20% on the cost of a new home, which is interest-free for 5 years.

After moving to the Soapstones development from Kidderminster, the family are now settling into their new community, Michelle continues: “The development is filled with lovely, friendly people. The Taylor Wimpey staff, including the site team and the sales team in the office, are always very friendly and cannot do enough for you.”

Surrounded by the beautiful Worcestershire countryside, Soapstones offers a collection of contemporary two-, three- and four-bedroom homes ideal for family living. The development is also ideally situated close to local amenities including supermarkets, restaurants and cafes.
