Four Generations Of Family In One Development

Posted 19 November 2021 by Helen Christie

Hayfield Green in the West Oxfordshire village of Stanton Harcourt has become home to four generations of the same family…

Ranging in age from two to 89, the family members live across three newly completed homes at the former RAF airfield redevelopment.

First to move into Hayfield Green was 27-year-old Emma, her partner Aaron and two-year-old Zac. Sue – Emma’s mother – her husband Roger, and son Josh moved into a Lulsley home shortly after. Sue’s mother – 89-year-old Mrs Dominey, a great grandmother – has recently moved into a two-bedroom bungalow which is located on the site of the former RAF Crew Lockers.

Roger Bolton says: “We all feel so fortunate to live in such a wonderful place. There is no other development like this in the area. There is so much open space and the homes themselves and the aftercare service from Hayfield has been fantastic. We have moved from nearby Eynsham, because we wanted to live in a quaint village. Stanton Harcourt has so much character, history and a traditional sense of community.

“Having Emma, Aaron and Zac only five doors away enables us to see how our young grandson changes and develops every day. Sue’s mother Estelle was born in 1932 and has just turned 89. When we saw that there was availability for the final phase of the Hayfield Green bungalows, we urged her to consider moving here, so that we could be on hand at the drop of a hat. She only moved in a couple of weeks ago and we are all so happy that she has. We drop meals round to her and involve her in everything that’s going on.

“Having several generations of the same family all living within the same village seems to be a rarity now. The joy that living so close together brings to our family is priceless. If anything, we wish we could have done it sooner!”

The last remaining homes for sale at Hayfield Green are the 1,278 sq ft Moat House bungalow, priced at £495,000 and the 1,539 sq ft Chapel House bungalow, priced at £525,000. Both stunning two-bedroom single-storey properties have a luxurious specification, ample parking and fore and rear private gardens.

Both homes look over the wide expanse of Public Open Space, which features blast and air raid shelters, dating back to WWII. Elsewhere at the 21-acre development, the former Guardhouse, Water Tower and Bomber Training Building have also been restored. Hayfield Green also includes a rich landscape of swale networks, native species planting, gateway tree retention, and inviting formal garden areas.

The development’s mix of 66 traditional brick, stone and render homes are heated by eco-friendly Air Source Heat Pumps. Five-star housebuilder Hayfield’s £5,000 Armed Forces or Key Worker Discount is available to all eligible buyers, while the Government’s Forces Help to Buy initiative helps Armed Forces Personnel to raise deposit funds.

The former RAF base is notable for having been a departure point for Winston Churchill for the pivotal Casablanca Conference in January 1943. Prior to that, in July 1941, the Stanton Harcourt airfield was also a starting point for a bomber raid on the German battleship Scharnhorst.

Hayfield Green is located off Main Road, Stanton Harcourt, Oxfordshire, OX29 5RL.
