A couple with four grown-up children has moved from a large house in Luton to a luxury new home at Hayfield Gate in the sought-after Bedfordshire village of Clifton.
Hazel and Gez Smiley reserved their three-bedroom ‘Edworth’ home off-plan, having viewed a variety of homes across Hayfield’s developments in Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire.
Hazel Smiley said: “We had lived in our home in Luton for 37 years and all the memories and milestones made there will last a lifetime. But now our four children are in their 40s and all have kids of their own, we wanted to make the move to a smaller, more modern home that better suited our needs and lifestyle.
“We love entertaining and getting the family over, so having a big kitchen/diner was top of our wish list. The layout of the ‘Edworth’ ticks all the boxes for us because the room dimensions are really spacious and the whole house is so lovely, bright and perfect in every way. As well as having a big clear out of all the things we’ve accumulated as a family over four decades, we’ve also sold most of our old furniture. It’s been fun choosing stylish pieces for our brand-new home.
“I worked for TUI for 26 years until being put on furlough last year and then was finally made redundant, so moving to a new area was a welcome fresh start. There is so much going on in and around Clifton. There is a lovely walk into Henlow and its quick and easy to catch the bus to Shefford or Hitchin. I have school friends who live nearby and I’m looking forward to having lunch meet ups, as there are so many great pubs and restaurants round here. We could hop on the train for a day trip to London too.”
‘Edworth’ house type
