Retired Couple In Warwickshire Upsize To A Forever Home

Posted 14 September 2020 by Keith Osborne

Carole and John have purchased a detached three-bedroom house from David Wilson Homes in Bishop’s Itchington...

Bucking the downsizing trend and opting for a bigger home after retirement, Carole Bastin and her partner John have recently moved into a detached three-bedroom ‘Hadley’ style home at Bishop’s Hill in Bishop’s Itchington.

She was previously living on her own in a small cottage nearby: “After meeting my partner, we decided that it was time to upsize as I was living in a small cottage in a nearby village. We both knew and liked the area and Bishop’s Hill is a very attractive development presenting a range of well-designed properties and it had just the home style that we were looking for.”

The couple used Part Exchange from David Wilson Homes to secure their new home, a scheme aiming to take the stress out of purchasing as there are no complicated chains – the housebuilder is your guaranteed buyer with a fixed offer, and homebuyers can stay in their old home until their new one is ready.

Carole continued: “We used Part Exchange to help move things on due to lockdown and we were impressed with the helpful sales staff in a very difficult time.”

The ‘Hadley’ offers a spacious open-plan kitchen and dining area looking over the large rear garden. The lounge area is great for entertaining with a light and fresh feel thanks to French doors opening out onto the rear garden. On the first floor, the main bedroom benefits from its own en suite and there is also a family bathroom for the rest of the household, perfect for those looking for more space.

Carole said: “The house is a perfect size and with a lovely garden, an en suite and a utility room is a must for us. The location of Bishop’s Hill is great, very central for shops and the main shopping centres. There are also good sports and community facilities in the next village and the Cotswolds is within easy reach for us too.”

Located near the desirable Warwickshire village of Harbury, Bishop’s Hill presents a range of two-, three- and four-bedroom homes on Station Road, with tree-lined streets and a pretty nature reserve within walking distance.

There are plenty of schemes house hunters can use to help them when reserving a property at a David Wilson Homes development, including Help to Buy, Part Exchange and Movemaker, all designed to make the moving process much simpler for buyers. As a thank you, the housebuilder has launched a 5% Deposit Scheme contribution towards their deposit, for all NHS workers who have shown courage in the face of the Covid-19 crisis.
