David Wilson Homes is part of the UK’s largest housebuilder, Barratt Developments, and every one of its purchasers has their own buyer journey and choice of home to talk about.
From developments in the East Midlands and East Anglia, here are just a few.
Venu, Lakishmi and family
Venu Mathukumalli (37) and wife Lakshmi Prasanna Tumpati (35) chose to move to Stotfold Park development in Bedfordshire to upsize from their previous property as they were in need of more space for their growing family, with children Krishna Karthik (5) and Aadhya (4).
As Lakshmi is a medical secretary, the family were able to benefit from the developer’s NHS 5% deposit contribution scheme, making their new home even more achievable, and they were the first residents to move in and are now settling into their new four-bedroom ‘Winstone’ style home.
Venu said: “It’s very exciting to be the first residents living at this brand new community. We were drawn to Stotfold Park from the beginning and it’s been fantastic to see how smooth and quick the moving process has been.
“Once we knew we wanted to upsize, we made a list of our top priorities and, once we had our hearts set on David Wilson Homes, we narrowed it down to two styles of properties. The ‘Winstone’ suited our tastes the best and we knew it gave us room to grow as a family.
“The location of Stotfold Park appealed to us greatly as it acts as a central point for work and we are close to our family.
“We bought our first home with David Wilson’s sister company Barratt Homes and based on our fantastic experience we decided we only wanted to stick with these developers.”
Four-bedroom homes start at £556,995 at Stotfold Park. Find out more from David Wilson Homes.
Roddy and Daniel
Roddy Blythin is a David Wilson Homes sales adviser has purchased his second home from his employer with a move to Drakelow Park in Derbyshire. Together with Daniel Miller (34), the 40-year-old took advantage of the Help to Buy to upsize and make their dream move.
As a senior sales adviser at the Derbyshire developments Drakelow Park and Doveridge Park, Roddy knows the properties inside out and saw the Derbyshire village as the perfect setting for his and Daniel’s next step on the property ladder. They decided to purchase a four-bedroom detached ‘Bradgate’ style home, along with dogs Rogue and Jinx.
He said: “Having been both an employee and a customer of David Wilson Homes, I’ve been able to appreciate both the design of the properties and how the company looks after its clients.
“Daniel and I needed the extra space and chose the ‘Bradgate’ for the large kitchen, dining and family areas, which are perfect for hosting dinner parties! I also knew upsizing wouldn’t have a major effect on our heating bills. We save so much money and hardly have the heating on.
“The development is lovely there’s a great sense of community. Drakelow Park’s semi-rural location is also great for us as dog walkers. We’re close to shops and bars, and our families are nearby which is nice.
“Help to Buy was a great boost in allowing us to upsize, and coming home to let the dogs out into a much bigger garden makes us very happy with our decision!”
Drakelow Park, now over 90% sold, currently has a collection of four- and five- bedroom properties available from £354,995. Find out more from David Wilson Homes.
Sophie, Jacob and Logan
Sophie and Jacob Gardiner (both 26), made the move from Waddington in Lincoln to Fernwood Village in Nottinghamshire to secure more space for their growing family and look to a fun-filled future with their two-year-old son, Logan.
The couple, a sales adviser and a firefighter respectively, purchased a four-bedroom ‘Exeter’ style home which gave them the extra space they had longed for. And with two dogs for company, Sam and Dylan, the rural surroundings close to home were a necessity.
Sophie said: “A new build property was always our first choice. We wanted to spend all of our spare time as a family, building memories rather than working on a second hand home.
Fernwood was always very desirable because of the local school, green spaces and places to enjoy the outdoors like Stapleford Woods and Sconce and Devon Park which are close by, but then there’s also Sherwood Pines and Clumber Park within the hour by car. There’s a school, nursery, parks, woodland, a One Stop shop and a community hall which holds groups for the kids all within walking distance. A huge benefit for me was being so close to the A1 but nicely set away to prevent noise disruption.”
Sophie continued: “Fernwood Village as a whole just has a fantastic street scene appeal. We used the Movemaker scheme, so David Wilson Homes sold our property on the open market which meant we got the best price we could whilst enjoying a smooth and stress-free journey. All we had to do was sit back and wait for the offer.”
There is currently a collection of four-bedroom homes available at Fernwood Village with prices starting from £324,995. Find out more from David Wilson Homes.
