Dreams of Family Home Take Flight

First-time buyers stay local to raise children close to friends and family...

Adam and Ellie Dunn met at university thirteen years ago. Adam, a pilot, and Ellie, a former sports manager, have lived in Spain, New Zealand and most recently Singapore. However, when they returned to the UK to start a family the couple decided to look for a home close to friends and family, finding their perfect home at Barratt Homes’ Bishop Park in Henfield, West Sussex.

Adam and Ellie had been renting in nearby Brighton when they discovered Bishop Park, less than 15 miles away.  Adam, who commutes regularly to Gatwick airport explained why the four-bedroom home the couple purchased at the development drew them away from the popular seaside town.

He says: “We did consider Brighton but there were a number of factors that attracted us to Henfield. Firstly, with a baby on the way, we realised we wanted to be close to family and both Ellie and I grew up nearby. At Bishop Park, we were also able to secure so much more for our money compared to Brighton – a large four-bedroom detached house with a garden.  We couldn’t have got anything on this scale and as Brighton is about 25 minutes away, in the end we got the very best of both worlds.”

Adam and Ellie welcomed baby Lucas to their family last year and the development’s proximity to open countryside and good schools was a major factor in their decision to move there.  There is a wide selection of local schools on the door step including St Peter’s and Ashurst CofE primaries – rated by Ofsted as ‘good’ and ‘outstanding’ respectively.

Adam says: “Good local schools were obviously a key consideration for us in our move. We knew the area and knew the schools had a lot to offer around here.”

With the South Downs on the doorstep, Adam and Ellie are looking forward to embracing their love of running and hiking. “Once Lucas is a bit older, we’re going to get out and enjoy the open countryside around here. It’s fantastic.”

Like many parents with young children, Adam and Ellie wanted a low maintenance new home so they could enjoy more family time together. Their house at Bishops Park gives them ample space to live, entertain and grow as a family.

“We are busy people and I’m away with work a great deal. So, with a new baby and my work schedule, we wanted a home that we could enjoy and not have to worry about painting and decorating.”

Currently available at Bishop Park is a collection of three- and four-bedroom houses. Prices start from £339,995 for a three-bedroom family home.
