A Perfect Home For Lockdown For Shropshire Family
A family living in their new David Wilson Homes property in Shropshire have found it the perfect place to work and study during lockdown.
Emma and Gareth Roberts and their daughters Madeline and Amelia recently purchased a four-bedroom family home at the Drayton Meadows development in Market Drayton, and picking the ‘Bradgate’ house type has provided an abundance of room for every member of the family allowing them to feel right at home.
“With our daughters getting older and requiring a bit more room to feel comfortable, we knew it was the right time for us to make a move,” said Emma, a calls resolution and repairs executive at Wrekin Housing Trust. “We wanted a home that provided us with a living space that our children will love, now and as they grow older, and the ‘Bradgate’ offered just that.”

The couple reserved their home long before the COVID-19 pandemic led to lockdown, but their move came just at the right time so that the family could make use of the extra space for the ‘new normal’ of home schooling and working from home.
Emma continued: “We have set a couple of workstations up for the children at the dining room table and it is going very well. I am also working from home and I have set my workstation up at the top end of the kitchen so I can be close enough to help the children, but far enough away so that they are not disturbing me whilst I’m on the phone.”
Also following government guidelines, the family have been spending only a limited amount of time outside of their home each day to exercise and enjoy the fresh air.
Gareth, a tarmac and concrete batcher, said: “We are fortunate to have a lovely sized garden where the children have a trampoline and a summer house. We also have a greenhouse where we are growing lots of lovely vegetables. We are using the landscaped area at the front of the development where the children can use their bikes and scooters. Also, from the development, we have easy access to several fields and public footpaths, which are all lovely in the beautiful weather.”
Emma commented: “I’m so glad that we moved, the extra space has enabled us all to be safe without being on top of one another consistently and also allows us to carry on without any issues. It’s lovely to be a part of a new community and being able to witness the development progress over time, and we’re excited to see how our family grows as well as our new home.”
There are currently a number of three- and four-bedroom houses for sale at Drayton Meadows priced from £237,500 to £335,000, and coming soon is a five-bedroom ‘Emerson’ house. Help to Buy is available, requiring a deposit of only 5% of the price.
