New Build Ticks All The Boxes For Newark Couple
Second-steppers Tom and Mandy Hill have found their perfect new home, a three storey, four-bedroom property, at David Wilson Homes’ Fernwood Village development in Newark.
Having lived in a four-bedroom detached property for 17 years in Newark, the couple were seeking a more manageable home within the convenient town.
Tom, who works in the police force, says: “We have family that lived on the estate in the past so we knew we could trust that the build quality was of a great standard. We needed to downsize and wanted a new build home so everything was done for us and it was brand new. We had been looking for four months before buying, and we sold our house a couple of months before placing the deposit on our new home.
“We liked the feel of the new homes at Fernwood Village, and the fact that each section of the development is finished as the build progresses. This gives the neighbourhood a good feel and ensures it looks clean and smart. The home we purchased looks very smart and well presented. We did look at other developments but kept coming back to David Wilson Homes for these reasons.”
Tom and Mandy secured their new Bayswater style home off-plan, making their move just 10 days before Christmas. The couple have now settled in nicely to their new home.
Tom continues: “We found that buying our home was a really easy process with the help of the employees in the sales office, who were spot on, and very knowledgeable and helpful. We were attracted to the layout, the second storey main bedroom, the location and the parking that our Bayswater home offers. The kitchen and dining area has also proven to be an excellent socialising space.”
The couple are reaping the benefits of new build life and haven’t looked back since.
Tom adds: “With new builds, you are able to move straight in and unpack. Everything is new and covered with guarantees so we are able to get a good peace of mind. We’ve found our new home to be more energy efficient too, and it’s been very beneficial to have newer appliances with a layout that suits us much better than our previous house. Because we downsized, saving money to buy a new home wasn’t an issue for us, and we were able to spend the leftover money on new furniture to go in the house. The move is pretty local so it hasn’t made much difference to our journeys to work, and I am currently using one of the bedrooms as a study for when I work from home – which is great. We’re also now within walking distance of some pubs which is always a bonus!”

Other properties available at Fernwood Village include a three storey, four-bedroom Woodcote style home, which is available from £284,995. The flexible home features a kitchen with space for a breakfast table, an open-plan living room and a dining area with French doors that lead to the garden, plenty of storage and two parking spaces. The first floor boasts two double bedrooms, a single bedroom or home office and a family bathroom. The top floor showcases an impressive main bedroom with an en-suite and dressing area.
A small selection of four-bedroom Radleigh style homes have also been released. Priced from £369,995, one of these homes includes an exclusive deal including an upgraded kitchen, an upgraded bathroom worth £1,500 and flooring included throughout, worth £5,000.
