Two sets of first-time buyers at New River View tell us about their moves to Dandara's New River View...

Purchasing your first home is one of the biggest steps you’ll take in your life, and it’s far more than just a financial transaction, and two sets of buyers at Dandara’s New River View development in north London illustrate the big changes that homeownership can lead to.

The homes at New River View combine modern architecture with the highest standards of interior specification and finish. The apartments are energy-efficient and fitted with double glazed windows. The kitchens all come with a washing machine, integrated recycling bin, fridge-freezer, dishwasher and a Bianco Nonte composite stone worktop. All apartments have en suites and fitted wardrobes to some bedrooms; a balcony or terrace; and there’s an underground parking space with cycle storage also available.

Two sets of first-time buyers at New River View explain how their brand new home has made welcome changes to their life.

Teshnee and Durvesh

Teshnee (26), a finance specialist at Bupa, and Durvesh (30), a bio-medical engineer in Cromwell Hospital, recently bought a two-bedroom apartment at New River View and since moving are now able to commute from the nearby Winchmore Hill station to Earls Court station in just 40 minutes saving them both time, money and carbon usage from their previous method of travel – driving.

The couple were able to save over £5,000 during lockdown to go towards their deposit. On the market for £535,000, the couple purchased the apartment using Help to Buy London with a 5% deposit of £26,250. As part of an incentive provided by the housebuilder, Teshnee and Durvesh were able to secure £8,000 cashback towards Stamp Duty and legal fees.

Teshnee and DurveshHaving lived in Enfield for the last eight years and renting a studio apartment in Edmonton Green for the last four years, the couple are familiar with the area.

“We saw the progression of the development almost every day which made us want to view it. The Winchmore Hill area feels like you’re in the suburbs outside of London with Grovelands Park nearby and the New River right next to us, but we also have the perfect commute!

“Having running and cycle tracks nearby, as well as cycle storage at the development, was a big draw for us as we both like keeping active and enjoy cycling together on the weekend. With our friends and family also close by, Winchmore Hill felt like the perfect fit for us.”

Simon Pendlebury, sales and marketing director for the Northern Home Counties division of multiple WhatHouse? Award-winner Dandara , commented: “We’re so pleased that Teshnee and Durvesh are enjoying their new home. We are seeing that many of our residents are drawn to the accessibility of running and cycling tracks at the development as well as the fantastic location.

“Winchmore Hill is an ideal location for first-time buyers, downsizers and growing families alike, given all the great green space as well as its excellent transport links. It’s perfect for commuters, just like Teshnee and Durvesh, and for leisure with easy access to both central London and the countryside.”

Tom

Tom Codd (35), a menswear fashion account manager, was born and bred in north London and living at home with his parents in Bush Hill Park, Enfield, and taking advantage of Help to Buy he bought a one-bedroom apartment nearby at New River View.

He commented: “I have been saving for a deposit for the last three years by living at home and the lockdown period definitely helped me save faster. I was determined to buy my own home so that I could have my own space, and when I realised I could make the move sooner by using Help to Buy I jumped at the chance.

“As soon as I saw the Dandara development in Winchmore Hill, I knew it would be perfect for me as I wanted to stay local to all my friends and family. I have been following the journey of the development since I first saw the Dandara signs go up and enquired as soon as I could. With Help to Buy available I was able to afford my dream home in the area I have grown up in. I put a deposit of £20,000 down and the process was stress free.

Tom“The area was a big factor for me as I wanted somewhere that was close by to all my friends and family, had greenery and parks, fantastic transport links but also a thriving community to socialise in. I also love sports and play for the local football team ‘Old Grammarians’ so wanted to make sure I stayed close by.”

Dandara’s Simon Pendlebury said: “We’re so pleased that Tom was able to buy his dream home at New River View thanks to Help to Buy. The popular equity loan scheme has enabled many first time buyers to move sooner rather than later, with 75% of our buyers at New River View using it.

“I work at Oxford Circus so it was important that I bought in an area that was well connected. The commute is extremely easy from Winchmore Hill to Finsbury Park where you can then pick up the Victoria line. It only takes around 40 minutes.”

“New River View ticks many boxes for anyone looking for a new home in a sought-after North London location. Winchmore Hill offers a thriving community, lots of tranquil green space, whilst remaining connected to London. It is clear why it attracted Tom who was looking to enjoy having his own space and be part of a lively community.”

In the heart of the desirable suburb of Enfield, New River View offers one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments, close to a whole range of shops and places to east and drink. Winchmore Hill is known for its quiet Edwardian streets, numerous historic buildings and beautiful parks. The area surrounding the New River View apartments is also home to some of Enfield’s best sporting facilities and teams. Two successful cricket clubs, Enfield and Winchmore Hill, have their home grounds in close proximity to Winchmore Hill, while Enfield Town FC, the local football club, play 15 minutes’ drive away from the development.

Ideal for commuters, there are eight Overground and two Underground stations within easy reach allowing journeys to central London in less than an hour. Excellent road links are also available, with access to the A10 and North Circular Road.

Prices start at £399,950 for a one-bedroom apartment. Selected plots qualify for Help to Buy. Find out more about New River View from Dandara.
