First-time buyers Nisha and Rix found the perfect property in Burton-upon-Trent which gives them both a great commute to their jobs in Birmingham.

The Shepherd’s Rest development combines a semi-rural location in one of the Midlands’ best-known and best-loved towns, with proximity to the A38.

The biomedical scientist and banker were renting a flat near Birmingham before finding an ideal home to purchase at the David Wilson Homes development – a four-bedroom ‘Holden’ house type. The couple used the government-backed Help to Buy shared equity scheme.

Nisha said: “We were looking for areas within a commutable distance to Birmingham, since we both work there, and had previously looked at developments in areas like Telford, Ecclesfield and Coventry.

“What particularly attracted us to Shepherd’s Rest was the beauty of the development and the lovely countryside views, plus the availability of all necessary amenities nearby.

“We are hoping this will be the place where we can have many beautiful memories with a growing family.”

Rix added: “After visiting developments and show homes for the past two years, we found the ‘Holden’ to be the perfect house type for us to accommodate for all our anticipated future needs. All of the rooms in the house are perfectly sized and the house is designed beautifully on the inside and outside.”

Nisha continued: “The development is within the catchment area of Ofsted rated ‘Outstanding’ primary and secondary schools, which makes it ideal for bringing up a family. We’re close to a convenience store, lots of nice restaurants and pubs, as well as the National Forest Adventure Farm.”

Rachael Harrison, sales director at David Wilson Homes East Midlands, said: “We are thrilled to hear Nisha and Rix have settled into their new home and are making the most of the strong commuter links and excellent facilities surrounding Shepherd’s Rest.

“The ‘Holden’ style home is one of the most popular properties in our portfolio, and is an excellent option for those looking to accommodate a growing family.”

The current range of four-bedroom properties available at Shepherd’s Rest development start from £299,995. House-hunters are invited to register their interest in a new collection of three-bedroom homes coming soon.
