Housebuilder’s Sales Expert Falls In Love With Ayr Development

Posted 17 March 2022 by Keith Osborne

Angela was so impressed by her new place of work that she and her husband have purchased a home there...

Angela O’Hara, a Cala Homes (West) sales consultant, was working at the homebuilder’s Maidenhill development when she was asked if she could temporarily move to its latest development in the picturesque location of Doonfoot, Ayr.

Having worked with Cala for five years, Angela was incredibly familiar with the new build homes and their high specification. However, when she arrived at Florence Gardens, she also fell in love with the location and the community.

The development off Dunure Road offers a collection of four- and five-bedroom homes with coastal surroundings – it’s just a quick stroll from the beach – and excellent commuter links.

Angela said: “Arriving at Doonfoot I was stunned by the beautiful setting, the views and the proximity to the beach. Despite not actively looking for a new home, I convinced my husband to come and visit the development and it wasn’t long before we were choosing our own home.

“Our house at the time was an older property – a Victorian villa which had beautiful high ceilings but was always so cold, even in the summer, and overall expensive to keep.

“Once we made the decision to make the move to Florence Gardens, we quickly found the perfect plot and reserved in February this year.”

Angela and VincentAngela and her husband Vincent reserved a ‘Dewar’, a five-bedroom detached home with three bathrooms and a south-facing garden – the perfect abode for the couple and their two dogs, Molly and Lucy, and their cat Dusty.

Angela continued: “The process was really simple and straight forward and it was really interesting to see it from the other side – as a client and not as the sales consultant.

“As expected, we moved into our new home in October with no delays and we have settled in really well. Our neighbours have been so welcoming. We all get on so well and I’m even part of a walking group with a wonderful bunch of ladies. It has such a lovely community feel, we couldn’t have picked a better development.

“I am fortunate to have extensive knowledge on the different Cala house types, but in reality that made our decision even more difficult, as I really am passionate about them all.

"However, it felt like our plot was picked just for us as it was in a perfect position within the development, looking out onto the fields with gorgeous scenic views and horses, and the size of the ‘Dewar’ was perfect for both of us.”

The ‘Dewar’ is an L-shaped home which features a formal lounge plus an open-plan kitchen, dining and family area with contemporary bi-fold doors offering access to the spacious rear garden. The ground floor also offers homebuyers an integral garage, bathroom, utility room and storage.

The galleried landing invites buyers upstairs to four generous-sized bedrooms, two of which are en suite, as well as a family bathroom and fifth bedroom which can be transformed into a study for those working from home.

Angela said: “Moving from an older property, having everything brand new is such a luxury. We’ve also come from having one bathroom, so we really are spoiled here.

“All of the rooms are so spacious; we love the open-plan living style which is perfect whether it’s just the two of us or when we are hosting family and friends. Our garden is also a really great size, which was a necessity for our two dogs as it gives them the freedom to run about.

“Every morning before I make the short commute to work, I walk the dogs on the beach, and it is the perfect start to my day. It is an amazing place; I really can’t recommend purchasing a beautiful Cala home in the beautiful location of Doonfoot, Ayr.”

Florence Gardens is now sold out but Florence Wynd, a collection of just 27 four- and five-bedroom detached homes is set to launch this spring. Find out more at www.cala.co.uk.
