Caerphilly couple move into bigger family home in time for Christmas

Moving house is always a big decision and for Kelly and Jon Greenaway, it was a choice they didn’t want to rush into.

In fact, the couple spent 12 months wondering whether to buy a new-build or take on a renovation project – that is, until they discovered Taylor Wimpey’s Kingsmead development in Caerphilly.

The couple had lived in their previous home in Caerphilly  for 15 years when they decided it was time to move, and in October they took the plunge and traded up to the fabulous four-bedroom detached ‘Petford’ house at Kingsmead.

With plenty more space and room to grow for them and their two children, Kelly and Jon are now preparing to celebrate their first Christmas in their new home!

Kelly says: “We spent a while looking for the perfect house, we couldn’t decide whether we wanted to ‘do up’ an older property or buy new.

“We looked at the Kingsmead development and chatted with the sales executive a few times – stepping up the property ladder is such a big decision and we didn’t want to rush. But we eventually realised that buying new would be so much easier, especially as neither of us are any good at DIY!

“Once we’d made the decision everything moved really quickly. We wanted to be settled in in time for Christmas and we’ve managed that thanks to Taylor Wimpey!”

Kingsmead’s great location in the bustling town of Caerphilly was what initially caught Jon and Kelly’s attention, however it was the spacious design and carefully-planned layout of the ‘Petford’ that helped seal the deal.

“We have two children and didn’t want them to move schools so Kingsmead is perfect for us,” continues Kelly. “We really liked the large open-plan kitchen/dining room in the ‘Petford’ and the four bedrooms also appealed to us.

“We now have lots of extra space which is great, especially since we’ve agreed to host Christmas for the whole family in our new home this year – something we’re really excited about!”

After securing their dream plot, Jon and Kelly enjoyed the process of making the home their own with Taylor Wimpey’s range of interior Options.

Jon says: “Once we had bought a new home, we wanted to start afresh, so we sold all of our old furniture and spent a long time choosing which upgrades we wanted to make the property feel personal to us.”

The family are now settling into their wonderful new home at Kingsmead, and both Kelly and Jon are delighted with the build quality, the extra space and the aftercare they’ve received from Taylor Wimpey.

Kelly adds: “The process of buying our home was really easy, Taylor Wimpey dealt with everything and we even got to meet the builders and the Site Manager. The journey from securing the plot to moving in was much quicker than we expected and we couldn’t be happier!”
