First-Time Buyers Use Help to Buy For Ideal Home

Posted 7 October 2020 by Keith Osborne

Two major events – a new baby and a new house – have come close together for happy couple Hubert and Karolina...

Almost exactly a year to the day that baby Gustaw was born, in July 2019, the growing family moved into their own three-bedroom semi-detached home at Bellway’s Kings Grove development in Lighthorne Heath.

First-time buyers Hubert and Karolina, both 27, had been renting a home in Stratford-upon-Avon for the past five years, and were one of the first families to move into the new development south of Leamington Spa.

“We’ve had been looking for a house for probably a year-and-a-half,” said Hubert, an engineer. “Mainly new houses. We chose Kings Grove because of the location and because of the reputation of Bellway as a builder. We decided pretty quickly when we saw the ‘Tailor’ show home at Kings Grove. It ticked all the boxes. The location was right, the layout of the whole house was good, we liked the number of bedrooms and the size, and we’ve also got a garage, which wasn’t on our list!”

The couple reserved their new ‘Tailor’ house type at Kings Grove in mid-January. It has a generous kitchen/dining room and separate living room. There’s also an entrance hall and a cloakroom downstairs, while upstairs there is there bathroom, two double bedrooms and a single. The largest bedroom has an en suite shower room.

Hubert said: “It is such a big relief that we can start paying for our own property, rather than renting like we used to before. Buying new means that we have the freedom to make our house just the way we want it to be, and that’s what makes it special.”

The move has also drastically shortened the commute for both Hubert, who works less than a mile away at Jaguar Land Rover in Gaydon, and Karolina, a commercial manager for DCS in Banbury, from where it’s just a 20-minute drive home.

“We like our new location because it is well connected to nearby towns. We especially enjoy going to Leamington Spa for shopping, dining out and walks along the parks”, said Hubert.

Karolina, Hubert and GustawThe couple used the government’s Help to Buy scheme to make their move onto the property ladder. Hubert said: “It was useful to us as our initial monthly repayments are lower.”

He added: “We now have more space to raise a small child and to exercise at home in the garage, where I've set up a small gym. There is also a workshop area in the garage where I carry out activities like woodworking, and I now have space for my drum kit there too. It’s a great house and our friends love it too – they especially like the layout and kitchen.

“We’ve already done most of the decorating and have chosen to design our home in a minimalist style with dark wooden accents. We love the house, it suits us very well, and we would recommend buying with Bellway.”

Kings Grove is a development of two-, three-, four- and five-bedroom homes with picturesque countryside views in a sought-after Warwickshire location. Two-, three- and four-bedroom houses are currently available, with prices starting from £239,500.
