Need For Family Space Leads To Move To Newtonhill

Posted 23 July 2021 by Keith Osborne

The Sangbarani family used Part Exchange to upsize to a large family home and Barratt's Whiteland Coast...

When lockdown happened at the start of 2020, an Aberdeenshire family of four – Clint, Naomi, Leelan and Alexa Sangbarani – soon realised they were about to outgrow their home.

Often find themselves balancing the kids’ football, dancing, boxing and playtime, along with mum and dad working two full-time jobs, Naomi then found herself working in the kitchen, and the children were needing more space as they grew older.

Naomi said: “When we started looking for a new property, we wanted to keep our options open, but as soon as we visited Whiteland Coast, we were set. The space, the views, the finishes, the area, we loved it then and still do now!”

“We previously stayed south of Aberdeen, and Whiteland Coast allowed us to stay in the area while having the best of both worlds – the appeal of coastal living along with a short drive to the city centre,” said Clint. “It is also a nice place for our children to be brought up in.”

The family used Barratt’s Part Exchange service to sell their previous property and move into their new home in May 2021: a four-bedroom ‘Balmoral’ house type, with office space, an ample lounge and open-plan kitchen/dining and family room. Part Exchange provides future Barratt homeowners a guaranteed buyer for their current property at fair market value and without estate agent fees. They also benefit from buying and selling in one easy move and can stay in their old house until their new home is ready.

Clint said: “Part Exchange was a real blessing, especially having two young kids. It meant we didn’t have to move out straightaway when our house was sold, making the moving day very smooth.”

“Alison [sales advisor] was extremely helpful and kept us updated throughout the process. We are so grateful for Barratt’s COVID-19 safety protocols in place which allowed us to still be able to visit the show home and pick our own finishes,” added Naomi.

After having viewed the ‘Balmoral’ at a different development, Clint and Naomi reserved it straightaway when it was released at Whiteland Coast. “The ‘Balmoral’ was perfect for us, the size of the rooms and office space needed since working from home were a huge benefit and we knew we wanted the big family/kitchen/dining area to be the heart of our home.”

When asked about future projects for their new home, Naomi and Clint said they had already transformed some rooms: “We have made the biggest bedroom a toy-room, which we’ve ended up spending most of our time in. It is great for the kids to have that space (and helps to keep the rest of the house free of toy clutter!).”

“We’ve also converted the garage into a little gym/man cave which is great for me to spend time at home while also working out,” said Clint.

Naomi added: “We’ve only been in for a short time and so far the aftercare from Alison and [site manager] Allan has been fantastic. They went above and beyond with the effort and care they put in to helping us settle into our new home,” added Naomi.

Whiteland Coast is a community of five-star two-, three- and four-bedroom homes just outside of Aberdeen, with an NHBC Pride in the Job-winning site manager. It offers a great choice of starter and family homes with schools, work and leisure amenities on its doorstep. The development is well connected to Aberdeen city centre and surrounded by coastal views for homeowners to enjoy.

Several Barratt Homes developments in the north of Scotland feature properties available for Part Exchange, including Westburn Gardens, Riverside Quarter, Hopecroft, Osprey Heights, and Countesswells.
