A Low Maintenance Property With A View In Cambridgeshire
Having spent eight years at Barratt Homes’ Trumpington Meadows community, a buyer has purchased the development’s show home to secure a picturesque view of the country park in Trumpington.
Home to a wide range of apartments, the Hauxton Road community is well-suited to those looking for a manageable property in a countryside location. Jill Davies, managing director of a digital agency, has recently purchased her second apartment at the development after the show home became available to buy.
She bought her first apartment when her son was in school to provide him with independence when travelling to school locally. Eight years on, she’s now making the most of a comfortable lifestyle in a new home with beautiful landscapes to enjoy from her terrace.
Jill said: “I really enjoy the ‘lock-up-and-leave’ aspect of owning an apartment. I often go sailing, so I wanted a home which didn’t have a large garden to maintain. Buying the show home gave me the chance to have the outdoor space I wanted. The terrace is beautiful and I’m overlooking the meadows.”
Jill purchased a ‘Vista’ apartment and it was sold as seen, which meant all of the interior design packages were already included.
After reserving her first apartment with Barratt Homes, she was able to choose a large majority of her interiors from curtains and flooring to the kitchen worktops and bathroom tiles; one of her main reasons for buying a new build home.
It was the location and the modern layout of the apartment which appealed to Jill, especially as she required the ability to work from home. Jill continued: “The second bedroom is my home office. When I was moving in, I needed broadband in place fairly quickly and it was all set up within 24 hours. I couldn’t believe it!”
Originally from Yorkshire, Jill has lived in Cambridgeshire for 25 years but is now well settled in the growing community at Trumpington Meadows. She added: “The location couldn’t be better for me. There’s the park-and-ride and guided busway into Cambridge but even taxis are reasonably priced. I’ve definitely made the most of having Waitrose nearby and Sainsbury’s and John Lewis have a collection centre within walking distance as well.
“The country park is a main attraction for me, particularly during lockdown. I'll often go for a morning run there, along the river or Byron Pool.
“Considering how many homes there are here, there’s a real calmness to the development. There’s recently been a piano recital which we could all listen to from our gardens and outdoor spaces, which says a lot about the community spirit in the area.”
Annette Hurst, sales director at Barratt Homes Eastern Counties, said: “It’s wonderful to hear Jill has purchased a new home not once, but twice with us at Trumpington Meadows. The location of the community is truly unique and our range of apartments available offer a low maintenance property with plenty of opportunities to enjoy a beautiful countryside community close to Cambridge city centre.”
There is currently a selection of one-bedroom homes for sale at Trumpington Meadows with prices starting from £313,995. Find out more from Barratt Homes.
