New Buyers Dedicate Room For Gaming Hobby
A young couple who recently purchased a brand new home from Barratt Homes in the Midlands have dedicated a room to enjoy their board gaming addiction.
Having bought a three-storey, three-bedroom ‘Norbury’ house type at the B5 Central development in Birmingham prior to lockdown, Jess Cole and Jon Eade have plenty of space to play with (no pun intended!). They share a keen interest, having originally met at Aston University in the board gaming society and being fans of both board games and roleplaying games, hosting gaming evenings with their friends around twice a week.
Both in their twenties, they bought this popular Barratt home type with their future in mind, planning a young in a few years’ time. And choosing a new build was a “no brainer” to take advantage of having a property that’s not a ‘fixer-upper’, whilst also loving its contemporary layout.
The 'Norbury' house type
“Having a spare room to play games in means it doesn't take over the living room and dining table, and when friends are over for a roleplay evening that I'm not involved in, I can still relax downstairs and enjoy the living room whilst they play, without being in each other’s way!” said Jess, a technical consultant.
“The room is the perfect size for us, we have a dining table that extends in there and still have plenty of space for storage shelves for all of our games. We've also decorated the walls with empty board game boxes and framed a game that we'd finished playing recently as a memento because we had so much fun with it!”
On the ground floor of the ‘Norbury’ is a large, open-plan kitchen/family/dining room with French doors leading out to the rear garden. Upstairs, two double bedrooms and a modern family bathroom feature, whilst the second floor includes a spacious master bedroom and en suite.
Jess added: “As soon as we viewed the ‘Norbury’ style home we knew it was the right choice for us. Not only did it have enough room for Jon’s height at six foot eight, but is versatile enough to change with our lifestyles. It’s a joy to come home of an evening, and open the doors to a property that is ours, not to mention that it is always lovely and warm!”
“With the help of Gavin and Louise at the development, who laid out the everything we needed to know and answered all of our questions, we purchased our property with the Help to Buy scheme.”
Jon, a payroll officer, commented: “We have found the perfect middle ground with our new property. Whilst living at B5 Central means we can benefit from living close to our jobs, it’s still a very peaceful community that really offers the best of city living.”
This development is located near to Birmingham city centre, with both the Bull Ring and Mailbox shopping centres less than a mile away, and the choice of shops, pubs and restaurants close by is endless. The nearby A45 and A38 provide road links up and down the country, and New Street Station, which offers connections to many major cities, is just one mile away.
Currently available at B5 Central are one- and two-bedroom apartments from £183,000 to £247,000, available with government-backed Help to Buy.
