Three-Storey Appeal To Leicestershire Buyers

Posted 12 July 2021 by Keith Osborne

Emma and Gavin chose a house type that allowed them great flexibililty in laying out their new home in Hugglescote...

Work-life balance is now a top priority among new homebuyers and one couple in Leicestershire have found this is best achieved across three storeys.

Emma Rowe and Gavin Hilliar (both 32) recently moved to Barratt Homes’ Grange View development in Hugglescote after taking a liking to the layout of the properties across three floors.

As a nurse practitioner for the NHS, Emma was in search of a new home that provided a space to retreat to after a long shift, whilst also having the versatility to shape the property to meet every day needs.

She said: “We wanted to split the house into sections so the ground floor is a communal space, whilst the first floor is for work and hosting for guests. The second floor is our space which gives us privacy, separates home and work which is nice and gives us more room for when people stay over.

“We loved the layout of the house. We wanted large bedrooms and having three floors meant we didn’t have to compromise on the space in these rooms.

“It’s a fresh start for us. We wanted something modern which nobody else had lived in, and we’re now concentrating on making our house a home.”

Hugglescote appealed to the couple due to its rural location and strong commuter links via the nearby M1 and M42. Emma is based in Nottingham for work whilst Gavin, a quality inspector, commutes to Hinckley. Having only recently moved in, the couple are yet to fully explore the local area but have already enjoyed the nearby park, Coalville’s many retail amenities and the large Tesco in Ashby for grocery shopping.

Emma Rowe and Gavin HilliarEmma continued: “As I work for the NHS, we were able to use the 5% deposit contribution scheme at the time of reserving. It made me feel valued to work for the NHS and it meant we could have the home of our dreams.

“Sometimes I come home late at night because of work and I pull up onto the driveway to see our house and just smile. I might have had a difficult day and I come home to the product of our hard work and feel proud.

Grange View is a lovely community. It’s got various-sized properties which attract people in different stages and walks of life and the area does have a nice family feel to it.”

Since joining the community, Emma and Gavin have met a number of their neighbours, many of whom had documented the progress of their homes on Instagram.

Their new home was already landscaped with green turf, bark covered beds and plants when they moved in, but the couple now plan to create their own patio as part of their efforts to convert their blank canvas into a home.

Jan Ruston, sales director at Barratt Homes North Midlands, said: “We’re so glad to hear Emma and Gavin are enjoying their new home at Grange View and are making the most of the flexibility that comes with a three-storey property.

“Our Hugglescote community has taken shape beautifully and we’re always happy to learn how our residents are settling into their new homes.”

There is currently a selection of three-storey properties available at Grange View with prices starting from £261,995. Find out more from Barratt Homes.
