Star Social Media Dog Enjoying Life In Bedfordshire

Cyril the Chihuahua, a famous pooch who has racked up an amazing 15,600 followers on Instagram, is – with the assistance of his owner Sarah – enjoying life from a new build home in Leighton Buzzard.

Cyril’s account (@lifeofcryrilthechi) shows five-year-old’s day-to-day life with Sarah Denmead, who moved to Barratt Homes’ Clipstone Park with him and fellow chihuahua Tommy in August 2019.

As well as being nearer to work, Sarah chose Clipstone Park in particular due to its relaxing market town atmosphere. Here, she shares Cyril and Tommy’s enjoyment in walks around Stockgrove and Rushmere country parks.

Sarah said: “The account was made just for fun really, I saw other pet accounts on Instagram and thought, why not. It is light-hearted and I think I portray myself and humour through Cyril's posts. I get a lot of messages from people just to say thank you for making them smile and that is its only purpose really.”

Sarah used the government-backed Help to Buy scheme to secure her three-storey ‘Norbury’ style home and described the purchase and moving experience with Barratt as “great and helpful”. Although one of the earliest residents at the development, Sarah claims it will be nice to see the growing community and new facilities at Clipstone Park.

She has managed to maintain this account for Cyril’s global fan-base whilst also working tirelessly as a community nursing team leader: Her team covers a whole range of support options for those who cannot see a GP. This includes end-of-life care, support during chemotherapy and specialist wound care.

She said: “Due to the current situation with COVID 19 pandemic things have been stressful but the teams I work with have really pulled together. I think the outpouring of support for the NHS and health workers in general has really helped to boast moral at a time it was really needed due to underfunding into the NHS and staff shortages.

“I have some lovely local areas on the door step to walk the dogs. With things at present this is my stress relief from what is going on in the world and at work during this pandemic.”

Clipstone Park is a popular community in Leighton Buzzard, with a current release of three- and four-bedroom homes priced from £365,000 to £377,000.
