Developer Offering Shared Equity Scheme In Highland And Aberdeenshire

Posted 19 April 2021 by Keith Osborne

With First Home Fund now unavailable, a developer is now offering a Shared Equity scheme to qualifying buyers...

With Scotland’s re-launched First Home Fund selling out within days earlier this month, WhatHouse? Award-winning Places For People/ZeroC is now offering its own shared equity scheme to lessen the financial burden of getting onto or up the property ladder at their major developments.

With Shared Equity, you fund between 60% and 80% of the full price of the property, made up of your deposit and a mortgage. The equity loan, which is funded by Places for People Scotland and the Scottish government, finances the remaining percentage. You’ll own 100% of the property and there’ll be no rent to pay.

ZeroC’s home of the month at Tornagrain is the ‘Scottack’. It could be a perfect family home, with 980 sq ft of living space, featuring a modern country design with open-plan living and, inspired by traditional local architectural style, has period features such as timber windows and high ceilings. There’s space for a home office and it comes with fitted wardrobes. Ready to move into, this is priced from £123,000 under the Shared Equity scheme, this equates to £81 per week.

Tornagrain is inspired by historic urban towns of the region such as Nairn, Grantown-on-Spey and Fort William, using the local vernacular design and materials such as slate, stone and wet dash render in order to fit in to the area.

Chapelton'The McFarlane' at Chapelton

In Aberdeenshire, eight miles from the city centre, the Chapelton development is also combining desirable period building features with the latest modern conveniences to meet today’s house-hunters’ needs. The design inspiration here is urban settlements of historic towns such as Montrose, Stonehaven and St Andrews.

Places For People’s home of the month for April is a two-bedroom apartment with a full market price of £180,000, but the Shared Equity scheme brings that down to as little as £108,000, which equates to around £80 per week. It’s called ‘The McFarlane’ and is a ground floor property with a spacious £672 sq ft of living space. The open-plan kitchen/dining/living room is the perfect space to relax and unwind, both bedrooms are generous doubles with fitted wardrobes and there's a modern family bathroom.
