Homes That Get It Right In Swanland

Posted 19 July 2021 by Keith Osborne

Redrow is building homes to suit 'rightsizers' who don't want to compromise on interior space in their new property...

The sought-after East Riding village of Swanland is home to Redrow’s very popular Swanland Heights and it’s here where there is a selection of homes that combine a high specification with easy-to-manage living space.

The combination of good looks, quality, practicality and energy efficiency might make them perfect for people looking to relocate from an older property that’s outlived its purpose.

Most people are familiar with the idea of downsizing to a smaller home because where they live has become too large for them or to save money. But what about those who don’t just want reduced space but want space that is right for them, referred to as ‘rightsizing’.

It may still mean buying a smaller home, but it could also mean buying a similar sized home that’s configured differently – fewer bedrooms for example – or something newer that’s much more energy efficient and easier to keep warm and clean.

Steve Jackson, sales director at Redrow Yorkshire said: “These days buyers have a new set of priorities when it comes to homes. Essentially, buyers need to decide what they want from their homes and how they want to spend their time. For purchasers who like to entertain, for example, having an open-plan kitchen and dining area might be important or alternatively having a garage could be top of their list.

“With downsizing all the focus is on finding a smaller, cheaper home; whereas rightsizing is about getting the optimum space, seeing the bigger picture and finding a home that’s the right fit to maximise your lifestyle.”

There are a number of house styles that that fit the bill perfectly at Swanland Heights, including the ‘Warwick’ and ‘Leamington Lifestyle’.

The ‘Warwick’ starts at £314,950 and has a lovely big kitchen and dining area, a separate lounge and a wide and welcoming hallway; as well as three bedrooms.

Rob and Maureen Fitz-JohnActive retirees Maureen and Rob Fitz-John are big fans of the ‘Warwick’, having moved from a four-bedroom home. Said Maureen: “The ‘Warwick’ is the perfect size for the two of us, we’ve got a spacious kitchen and dining area and separate lounge, plus we’ve got plenty of space for guests or if the grandchildren come to stay. It’s got the private outdoor space we wanted but, having lived in a lot of houses with large gardens, this time we have something a little more manageable and easy to maintain.

“There’ll be less maintenance and upkeep and we don’t have to make any improvements to bring it up to date inside. I like that new-builds are more energy efficient and economical too.”

The ‘Leamington Lifestyle’ is one of a new generation of the housebuilder’s ‘Lifestyle Homes’ and probably epitomises the concept of rightsizing. Built on the footprint of what would normally be a four-bedroom detached property, instead it has three lavish bedrooms; each with its own en suite, and the principal bedroom including a walk-in wardrobe. There’s certainly no compromise on space!

Downstairs features a full-width open-plan kitchen/dining/family room stretching 25ft across the back of the home. This vibrant family living area includes patio doors leading onto the garden and a utility room with exterior entrance to keep muddy shoes and wet coats out of the way. There’s also a separate lounge and a detached single garage. This home starts from £399,950 at Swanland Heights.

Redrow bedroomThe development is within walking distance of the picturesque village centre with its flower-lined pond, primary school, pub and post office. The village itself is on the edge of the Yorkshire Wolds and two miles north of the Humber Estuary, while the city of Kingston upon Hull is seven miles away and it’s only nine miles to the historic market town of Beverley.

Swanland Heights customers who are looking to ‘rightsize’ can also use Redrow’s Help to Sell scheme to sell an existing home. This helps homeowners sell their current property by working with trusted estate agents to achieve a quick sale while also contributing towards fees.

There are also four-bedroom homes at Swanland Heights, currently priced from £378,950 up to £452,950.

Customers can also take a look inside a ‘Leamington Lifestyle’ show home that’s open seven days a week from 10.00am to 5.30pm. Find out more about Swanland Heights from Redrow.
