Posted 26 October 2017 by Keith Osborne

We take a look at new homes launches, offers and events for house-hunters taking place around the country this weekend...

Across the country, many housebuilders find October one of the busiest months, with some homebuyers hoping to be in their new property by Christmas and others planning already for next year. The following offers, events and launches will appeal to a broad spectrum of house-hunters…

New show home to open at Gloucestershire village site

House-hunters in the south-west of England now have a new reason to seriously consider David Wilson Homes’ Saxon Gate development in the village of Leonard Stanley, near Stroud – a new show home that is opening on Saturday 28 October.

To date, purchasers have been reserving units at this site from another development, Park Farm in Thornbury, north of Bristol, but the new show home gives everyone the chance to see design and build quality for themselves, and be inspired by the stylish interior decoration.

The development has a mix of four- and five-bedroom homes currently priced from £375,000, and the show home is a luxurious ‘Henley’ house type, a detached family home with four double bedrooms, a single bedroom, large open-plan kitchen/family room and separate dining room. This house type starts at £550,000.

“The ‘Henley’ makes an ideal home for families looking to settle down,” says sales director Louise Ware. “All of the houses here at Saxon Gate have been beautifully-designed to provide spacious living accommodation for a variety of different lifestyles, from young professionals to growing families. But I know the team is looking forward to showing off this particular design when we open to visitors at Saxon Gate.”

Lifestyle Living launches new Scottish age-exclusive development

Lifestyle Living, a division of Britain’s largest builders of retirement property McCarthy & Stone, is launching a new development of 23 units called Westerly in Bearsden, East Dunbartonshire, on the outskirts of Glasgow, on Friday 27 October.

The launch event for the over-55s scheme takes place at Boclair House Hotel on Milngavie Road – prospective buyers can book by appointment or attend a drop-in session from 2.00pm to 5.00pm, in order to find out more about the choice of properties in the popular suburb to the north-west of the city. There’s also an opportunity for those keen on what they see to make a reservation for the property they want.

Lorraine Paterson, sales and marketing director for McCarthy & Stone, says:  “We’ve created a truly wonderful place to call home at Westerly. As well as a choice of two-bedroom apartments with a premium specification, each apartment includes either a private balcony or terrace. This development is also home to an impressive sun lounge for the shared enjoyment of all owners.”

Attendees to the event can see plans for the range of apartments and learn more about what the area and city offers them, with the first properties ready to move into next summer.

Five Shared Ownership properties released at Hertfordshire development

Origin Housing has announced the release of five three-bedroom homes in the village of Brookmans Park in Hertfordshire, all of which can be purchased under the Shared Ownership scheme.

Ideal for families, the prices of these houses start at £162,500, representing a 35% shared of the market price of £650,000. Each has its own private garden and a high internal specification including luxury kitchens with quartz worktops, top-of-the-range Bosch appliances and high-grade bathrooms.

Simon Scott, head of sales and marketing for Origin Housing, says: “Family houses available through Shared Ownership remain remarkably rare here in London and the South East – house prices across the region mean a high proportion of young families are priced out of the property market. Green Close will give families the opportunity to start putting down roots in an area which offers excellent schools, plenty of green space and brilliant connections into central London.”

The development is a short walk from Brookmans Park station, which has services into King’s Cross, and a few minutes’ drive from the A1(M) and M25. The village has its own good range of shops and is close to even more in Hatfield and Potters Bar.
