It's another very busy week in the new homes market, with a number of launches, events and special offers for buyers to enjoy...

Summer id the perfect time to go looking for a new home, visiting sites, attending events and looking into the special offers available, and here we look at opportunities for these which are happening at developments across the country.

New homes launched on historic site in Hertford

Go Homes has launched a new boutique development of 13 homes on an historic site in the centre of Hertford, offering a range of properties reflecting the heritage of the location with stylish, up-to-date interiors.

Carriage Court comprises a mix of two-, three- and four bedroom homes – a mix of villas and a new mews – located on the site of a Baptist Chapel and the Coach and Carriage works that once belonged to the McMullen family, who owned the Hertford Brewery, and now converted into four homes. The architecture is influenced by the surrounding Georgian properties, while inside they have been designed for ‘upside down’ living, with two bedrooms on the ground floor and open-plan kitchen/living/dining room with balcony on the first floor. Six new townhouses each have four bedrooms and the mews has three new homes with garages.

Oliver Hookway, CEO of Go Homes, says: “We are delighted to launch Carriage Court and have paid tribute by commemorating the history of the site, throughout the development. The beautiful homes have been carefully designed to incorporate traditional features and architectural style.”

The development is located a short walk from Hertford North and Herford East stations, as well as many of the town’s shops and amenities. Prices start from £465,000 for a two-bedroom house, with Help to Buy available on a selection of the properties.

Luxury Glasgow apartments attract downsizing buyers

The demand for luxury city centre new build apartments from ‘downsizing’ older buyers illustrates how the idea that older people seek a quiet home by the coast, as Ambassador Developments is finding at its Park Quadrant Residences project.

It sees older buyers moving from their large old homes to high-end, spacious properties on the doorstep of everything the city has to offer. Set in Glasgow’s Park District, Park Quadrant Residences offers 98 luxurious apartments, duplexes and penthouses inspired by Victorian architecture but with plenty of modern features inside and out. The development offers a residence manager as well as security, accessibility and lifts. Prices start at £410,000 and potential purchasers are invited to visit the marketing, open 11.00am to 6.00pm Monday and Friday, 11.00am to 7.00pm Thursday, and 11.00am to 5.00pm Saturday and Sunday

Savills is the agent for the scheme and its head of new homes and its director Carole Mackie says: “They want a home that suits their active lifestyle and Park Quadrant Residences offers the perfect mix of space, luxury and convenience in the ideal location. With this market looking for security, which is less about personal safety and more about the owners’ aspirations to lock and leave and travel the world, the exclusive residence manager, comparable to a high-end London or Manhattan apartment, is also a very attractive feature of the development.”

Gordon Coster, director at Ambassador Developments Park Quadrant Limited, adds: “The unique combination of apartments, penthouses and duplexes at Park Quadrant Residences, means there is a style of home to appeal to the aspirations of all buyers. Downsizers in particular who no longer require a large family home in the suburbs are drawn to the scale and contemporary luxury in the highly sought-after city location. With private balconies and terraces, underground parking, lift access and first class specification throughout, there is nothing that matches Park Quadrant Residences in terms of location and luxurious design and finish.”
