Posted 11 May 2017 by Keith Osborne

The WhatHouse? team takes its weekly look at some of the top events, offers and launches for buyers of new homes in the UK right now...

It’s another busy week in the UK new homes industry, with plenty of launches, offers and events for house-hunters to learn about at developments across the UK…

Stamp duty contribution offered at Berkshire development

A special offer is approaching its final day at The Loftings in Maidenhead, Berkshire, where Redrow Homes is prepared to contribute a 3% sum to first-time buyers towards their stamp duty for reservations by 16 May 2017.

The town has received increased interest from homebuyers over the past few years as the Crossrail route gets closer to launch in Maidenhead in 2019 and many new homes have been built.

Mark Vanson, sales and marketing director for Redrow Homes Southern Counties, says: "We are thrilled to be offering first-time buyers a little extra help to get on to the property ladder. Our homes at The Loftings are perfect for those just starting out and looking for their first home. We have had great interest in our homes [there] and anticipate a large amount of enquiries during the exclusive stamp duty offer. We would encourage all interested to get in touch with our sales team sooner rather than later to book an appointment so as to not miss out on this great opportunity!”

Prices start at £369,950 for a two-bedroom home at this apartment development.

Off-plan reservations now welcome at coastal Cheshire development

Old Quay MeadowElan Homes is welcoming ‘early bird’ house-hunters in Cheshire to reserve the plot of their choice off-plan at Old Quay Meadow, a new development situated between Neston and Parkgate, overlooking the River Dee estuary.

Marie Morris, sales director for Elan Homes in the north, says: “Homes at Old Quay Meadow are currently being sold via Westminster Place near Chester and the question we’re asked most often is when ‘will we be open on site in Neston?’ closely followed by ‘when will the homes be ready to move into?’

“The good news is that we’re working towards opening a sales office and show home this summer. In the meantime we’d encourage potential purchasers to speak to the sales executive, view the show home at Westminster Place and to put their current property on the market if they haven’t already done so.”

Prices at this coastal scheme currently range from £409,995 for a ‘Bordesley’ to £489,995 for a ‘Mellor’, with a range of four- and five-bedroom homes available.

Part Exchange event this Saturday in Oxfordshire

For house-hunters in south-west Oxfordshire looking to move from their existing property to a brand new one, Barratt Homes is hosting a special event this Saturday 13 May for them to speak to its team about a Part Exchange deal at its Meadow View development in Watchfield. There is a range of four- and five-bedroom family homes at this site for buyers to upgrade to, currently priced from £416,995.

“Our Part Exchange scheme is ideal for buyers who want to move to a spacious new home at Meadow View,” says Barratt Homes sales director Andrea Pilgrim. “It is so frustrating for buyers who think they have found their dream home - only to be let down by the fact they can’t sell their own property. We want to keep this an exciting and enjoyable time and ensure a straightforward move for everyone. “Visitors to Meadow View on Saturday will gain access to a team of experts ready to provide advice on all aspects of the buying process.”

Part Exchange is a convenient option for many who have a home to sell before securing a new build one. The housebuilder arranges for an independent valuation on the old home and offers a chain-free purchase, and also removes the need to liaise with an estate agent and potential buyers for the old home.

New Greenwich homes to be released imminently

Bellway Thames Gateway is preparing house-hunters in south-east London for a brand new choice of homes as it is set to launch the latest collection at The River Gardens in Royal Greenwich. Views of the River Thames, supplemented by a 300-metre river frontage, are thought to be the prime area of appeal for potential buyers.

Emma Denton, head of sales for Bellway Homes Thames Gateway, says: “There is huge appeal in living next to the water and due to the natural limit on this type of development available, buying a property in a new landmark riverside development is a shrewd long-term investment. Given the success of the earlier phases of The River Gardens, we are confident that there will be strong interest in our forthcoming launch, so anyone keen to find out more is advised to register their interest early.”

The River Gardens will provide a range of apartments, with one to three bedrooms, set out in five buildings. Most of these properties will look out onto the river, with some splendid cityscape views of central London. All residents will be able to use the development’s concierge service as well as its private swimming pool and gym. Prices for these homes will be released at launch.
