Posted 28 June 2017 by Helen Christie

Property investors are looking even more towards Merseyside for investment opportunities...

Taking its name from the River Mersey, the county of Merseyside in North West England is made up of five metropolitan boroughs: Liverpool, Knowsley, St. Helens, Wirral and Sefton.

Property investors are looking even more towards Merseyside for investment opportunities. Research from Private Finance mortgage brokers has shown that Liverpool is the next property hotspot, with low average house prices (£122,283) and strong monthly rents (£1,021pcm). Steve Rotheram, the Metro Mayor has called for the government to make rail investment in the north a priority with a commitment to build the HS3 rail link – otherwise known as the Northern Powerhouse Rail.

This week it was announced that a plan to transform Liverpool’s Welsh Streets area has been approved. A previous plan, worth £15m was blocked by the government in 2015.

The plan will see around 300 homes being either newly built or refurbished by development company PlaceFirst. About a third of the homes will be four-bedroom house, 109 will have three bedrooms and 61 will be two-bedroom homes.
